If you searched for hours to find a giant trevally and went to donate it only to have Blathers say, "Tabby just donated a giant trevally five minutes ago!" would it make you feel a sense of community and cooperation or would you be all like

they can't even catch a fly so....
That would be pretty cool! Maybe special dialogue would be the way to do it. They walk around looking all excited, so you ask them what's up. Then they say "I caught this cool thing! I was thinking of donating it. Do you think I should?" Then the section in the museum could say like
"Donated by: Filbert"
"Donated by: Filbert"

honestly, kinda wouldn't be bothered by it. when you go to the museum and the villagers keep saying blathers said YOU donated this blah blah. it feels like it's always only me it's kinda sad. the same way with building a bridge (or pwp back then). but it is what it is. nintendo had to it this way or else we'll have another 20 pages off the "ACNH rant" thread lol

I would be bothered by it I think. At one point, in I think CF, I let someone make a character and they donated something with that charcter, it bothered me so much that I reset the whole town.
It’s more to do with: “all but one donated by Soness” and that ends up kicking up some sort of OCD. Bothers me to no end. If I put all that effort into catching something difficult of something that drives up my anxiety (tarantulas and scorpions) and a villager donates it before I can, I’ll just end up hating them, they don’t deserve that.

I like the sense of accomplishment of filling my museum (I don't even really let my side character donate!) and I would be SO annoyed if villagers donated instead. It defeats literally the entire purpose of the museum for me!
And I'm really doubling down on that since last night I chased a Gigas Giant Clam nearly all around my island. I EARNED that little bleeper, and I would've lost it if someone else had beat me to donating it

)I mean, they DO contribute, but I wish they'd contribute MORE. I forgot to pay off one incline right away, and a few days later someone had spent, like, 1.5k on it... yay. So, yah. If they're gonna contribute to anything, pay those things off. Like, even if we had to hype the project and talk them into it, it would be a huge help!
