Recently, I've been feeling pretty restless and anxious a lot of the time. I end up feeling pretty distressed over small things and I have a lot of trouble bringing myself out of that state. So, I was wondering, what do the members of TBT do to help relax when they might be feeling particularly stressed out or anxious?

When I feel pretty anxious, I tend to do breathing exercise to help me feel calm and relaxed. I will just lay down or sit comfortably somewhere, shut my eyes and try to focus on my breathing. It's suggested you should breathe in for 3 counts, and out for 4. That seems to work well for me but maybe not for others, so try out different techniques if you can. Deep breaths are very important. It's very relaxing to just disconnect from the outside world and just lay down and think of nothing for a while.

However, when I don't feel as anxious or stressed out, sometimes I can relax by just laying down and watching videos or a TV show or something like that. Playing Happy Home Designer also helps a lot too, because I tend to focus all of my attention onto that so I forget about what was stressing me out. Taking bubble baths is also so lovely.

Anyway, feel free to share your own techniques to help you relax! And PLEASE, keep it TBT appropriate. :)

Hi ^^

I suffer from anxiety and have done for a long time, For me the breathing exercises help alot, But I also like to sit in a quiet room sometimes and try to clear my thoughts, If I have too many things going on my brain goes into meltdown and spikes my anxiety, Writings lists and keeping a dairy really helps with that, In fact the best thing I have found is when your feeling anxious get a pen and a note book and start writing down what has got you so worried or upset, Sometimes just expressing it like that helps :3

I also recommend talking to a family member or a close friend that you can trust, Telling someone how you are feeling and just getting a chance to vent to someone who will listen and try to help is always good :]

My brother (who goes on this forum) had a lot of really bad social anxiety. He recently left home to go across country (Canada is big country) to go to university. He had never done anything like this before, and he had to talk to a lot of new people, live with a new room mate, etc. Well, he did amazing with it.

I think one thing that will help you relax is facing your fears head on. I know anxiety is often irrational fear and hard to control, but getting into the right environments and facing your problems is really the only solution that will work long term. While distractions will get your mind off of it, it doesn't actually help solve the problem at hand.

Good luck! :) If you need advice PM me!

I don't have anxiety or anything, but I usually listen to music to relax. Even though it's usually quick paced, pop-rock/pop-punk music, it does help me 'get away' from real life, so to speak.

Writing in my journal, watching a movie, reading, baking, playing video games, talk to friends about anything to distract myself or reading this booklet my bf made lol.

hot showers with candles and music, hot tea, cuddling with my heating pad/electric blankets while watching one of my favorite shows, playing video games, baking, going on a drive at night (usually to get ice cream and goodies to help me), calling up my mom and venting to her (she's my best friend) or cuddling with and talking to my boyfriend whom I live with ~

Playing games, listening to music, watching movies/TV Shows/Anime, Showering, and just distracting myself are short term solutions I usually go for when I'm anxious about something. I usually almost always find someone to talk to about it. As much as I don't want to, I end up relying on people I trust a lot quite a bit.

Sleep. And life simulation games, like acnl or the Sims. But my computers can't run the Sims anymore, and acnl isn't as good. So I mostly rely on sleep.

I'm like a cat. Or a koala. I eat, then I sleep.

I usually play acnl, and post on the forums here. I don't really don't much just wait it out and everythhing just seems to be fine after! I also like to take my dog for walks, watch tv, and hangout then my stress dies out.. xD

honestly, there isnt much that even helps me relax anymore other than time. if im trying to relax immediately, LOL that aint happening for sure..so i just resort to digging my nails into my arms or trying to space out. i used to listen to music to help me relax but that doesnt really help anymore along with gaming and drawing..so yeah spacing out and self harm is what i usually do. i dont recommend self harm though. at all.

The only thing that helps me relax is laying on my bed & listening to music, focusing on the lyrics.

I try to distract myself with something I really love like reading my favourite stories, playing my favourite games, taking a hot bath, eating some sweets/food I love/food I'm craving at that moment, listening and singing along (even just lip syncing!) or listening to my favourite songs and watching my favourite ASMR videos.

Reading, listening to music, dancing and most especially eating. XD

Playing games, watching youtube videos, taking a shower and listening to music are things I usually do.
If there's an assignment or something that's stressing me out I try to do it, but most of the time I'm just anxious because I'm a mess, so I just try to forget about it.

Sometimes nothing helps so I sit in my room with the lights out trying to breathe lmao
