Im talking like golden series and such, could anyone list rare/rarest furniture series in NEW leaf?
what furniture series are considered rare?

all of GracieGrace's furniture, specially the "between seasons-sale" sets, like the Card Set, the DLC sets (such as Zodiac) and the foreign version sets (like 7/11), tourney sets... i think. I'm not that good on furniture rareness, i believe that every set that isn't reorderable is considered rare

Campus is pretty rare despite orderable.
I think 7-11, Golden and the Tourney sets are the rarest since you need the relatively rare gold nuggets to make the golden set, you need to catch a large fish or a rare bug to get the tourney sets(despite being exploitable), and 7-11 is Japanese-only unorderable.
Specific season-only sets are also quite rare when they're not on the season which they're available.

I'd say the card-board set and sloppy set considering they're pretty hard to obtain. They can only be obtained through your villagers, lost property or retail(?). c:

I have gone to Weeding day many, many times and I always get the 4 same items. I had friends visit and Leif told them they had to pick an extra 30 weeds to get an item. Lol. I only had 1 weed to begin with.
I love trying to find the rare ones, I actually got lucky and was able to buy the whole Sloppy set for 2.6 million. I'm working on getting the Cardboard ones now piece by piece. I think I'll go for the 7-11 next, just because it's addicting to save up for and finally get the pieces.
Define "rare".
Gracie furniture, Weeding day furniture, event furniture and tourney sets can all be obtained by TT'ing.
Mermaid and Cabana can easily be obtained by visiting different online islands.
The true rare set is Sloppy followed by Cardboard since it has less pieces in it's series. They both can't be ordered, they can't be obtained by travelling, they can't be bought anywhere and their rareness is equal in all versions of the game. The 7/11 for example can be obtained multiple times through Japanese games so I don't consider it any more rare than other DLC.

I'd agree with this, there's shops on here and other sites selling multiple 7/11 sets (I got my first full set from a shop here). My Japanese friend also got me extra items from the 7/11 set, so I don't personally consider it rare. I got the full Mermaid set and half the Cabana set myself from the islands, it was time consuming but worth it for me.
I'd say the rarest were sets like the Weeding Day, Cardboard and Sloppy sets, although I've been lucky in respect of those as well and only need the Weeding day set now (minus the lily lamp).
