What exactly happens when a town corrupts?

I just talked to my mom about giving me a powersave, just in case my towns corrupt. (Especially LuzDale, LuzDale was a gift from my aunt which I've owned for almost a year now!)

Shhhh you can't talk about that thing here >___<

Save data is basically corrupted, in which it cannot be accessed anymore by the gaming system. Once it happens, you will be forced to delete your town by the game in order to erase the corrupted data.

From what I've seen it usually happens when the game card is removed during saving or just removed randomly at all.

Sometimes corruption even happens to people for no specific reason.

Yeah but it's still a touchy subject since you're using an external device to mess with the game :<

Yeah try not to spread false information like that pls. Duping does not ultimately cause corruption of the game. I have a friend on tumblr who's been duping since she has found out about the glitch and she hasn't had a town corrupt. Now, injecting your own opinions of how it affects the economy and whatnot shouldn't has been added anyways because it has nothing to do with a corrupted town.

Duping CAN cause corruption if done carelessly, but it's very highly unlikely that that alone will be the culprit.

Thank you for saying what I wanted to lol.

I'm fairly certain that a lot of people spread that rumor to try to stop people from duping; I've never actually known anyone to have corrupted their data via duping. Most people provide anecdotal evidence (usually "a friend of a friend" kind) that the heard from someone else, and thus, it spreads.

Um.. what's a powersave? > w <

Thank you for asking! I have heard of this but have no clue what it is. Sounds just like "constant saving" to me! I know it can't be that simple if people whisper, but if it can save towns, I can see the appeal of researching it.

I agree. If you want to patch a game, you should be a developer.

Why are so vocal about people playing the game differently from how you want to play?
Don't give me that tripe about "the economy." It's a game. A game where bells can be generated freely by selling millions of turnips to someone who doesn't need them or use them (There is no supply/demand.) I bought this game with my real money, I'll do whatever I want with it.

The physical is very rare, and like it has been said, if the physical gets corrupted, then it is probably a bad egg. I know that it is true. I have duped. I have turned the power off while saving. I have took the SD card out while saving. I have done almost anything that can be done to corrupt. No corruption in ANY towns of mine. The digital on the other hand, corruption magnet.

How is the digital easier to be corrupted though? I thought that it would be safer because you couldn't accidently take out the cartridge/destroy it...
