On Villager Trading Plaza, I always see people saying they are "cycling" their "original" villagers, and I would like a basic understanding on what these mean?

My guesses, are that,

cycling is where someone is going through villagers, and they find a good one, and try to get rid of them?

As for originals, all I can guess is that's when they have no greeting, no catchphrase, no new clothing, and no new furniture / no furniture taken away?

I'd just like this cleared up, as I'm tying to trade villagers, and I'd like to know these practically foreign phrases. (I remember when I didn't even know what TBT and IGB were)

Cycling is often referred to as going through villagers (moving in and out) in order to either
a) get a dreamie of your choice
b) offer villagers through a "cycling thread", in order to make money or just to give people free villagers

Then the villagers who are moving out will be transfered to another town, either of the cyclers or someone who is buying/getting the villager from a cycling thread.

Cycling involves the use of time-traveling (tt'ing) in order to force villagers to move out of the town, and bring new villagers in. Many Cyclers or people with cycle towns will do this in order to get certain villagers or do what I mentioned above.

People on TBT and who play AC like their dreamies and villagers to have the same outfit, house interior, catchphrase, greeting, etc if it is a high tier villager or their dreamie. Thus many cyclers and sellers of villagers will mention whether a villager is "original" or not to make sure people know what they are paying for or getting.

Hope this helps!!

*Note; if you plan to have a cycling town, remember that you should check out some threads on how to cycle such as http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?349624-Guide-Cycling-amp-Cycling-Towns-%26%2310141%3B-UPDATE-8-1-16

cycling is when you try to move out animals so you can potentially get a villager you want in the town. people usually do this in a separate town because it obviously takes a long time and will mess up your town (with weeds, flowers etc). then they move that villager to their main town :)

original is when a villager has its original clothing it comes in, all the same furniture etc.

You both mention having another town for cycling. Do people seriously buy an entire other game JUST for cycling?

Also thanks! :lemon:

Well they don't necessarily buy another copy. It could just be a friends or siblings 3DS that they don't use, or something like that. :p
