Today is Stinky's second time camping in my town. This is after days of the campsite being empty. The poor thing wants to stay in my town, and I'm considering letting him. He's got a nice appeal and character, and I'm cool with having two Jocks since him and Mott (my current Jock) still seem different from each other.
Problem is, I already have two Snooties, two Normals, and zero Crankies. I want a Cranky and need a Cranky, and my town currently stands at 9 villagers, but now I'm letting this derp take the last slot.
If I let him in, I'm going to have to wait until either Nan or Pancetti decide to move, and then hope that whoever camps next is a Cranky. If not, I'm still going to be waiting until a Cranky camps, which is unreasonable because my campsite tends to select several of the same personality type in a row, and I may be waiting through several more Jocks and/or weeks before either a Cranky finally camps, or another villager moves out and I'm left with whoever plots the next day.
So what'll it be? Do I move him along and wait for a Cranky to show up? Or do I let him in, make one of my extras leave, and THEN wait for a Cranky to show up?
Though my priority is the Cranky, I'm not in a rush or anything, and I'm okay as long as I'm not waiting a year for one. And yes, I am counting on the campsite to not give me Crankies when my town is full. But even if I pass every camper by waiting for a Cranky, I've also got my current villagers to deal with.
Either Nan or Pancetti I'd like gone, and I feel that having 10 will make the process go by faster than being in limbo between 9 and 8. I would also rather have two of a male personality and two of a female, than two of 2 female personalities, since there's 8 personalities and you can have 10 villagers. So getting Stinky or any additional Jock/Lazy/Smug/Cranky is something I want to achieve at some point. It's really a matter of what gets done first, because I'm not in a hurry.
Another factor adding to this is that I'm actually TTing forward, at a rate between day-by-day and every three days. Should a villager decide to unexpectedly move out while I'm doing this, I'm down to 8 and have to plot reset, hoping that I can get it to where
A) it's a Cranky, and
B) they're in a good spot.
But will doing that be faster than waiting for the campsite to cooperate? If I get 10 villagers and boot Nan or Pancetti, I can TT to their moving day once they've pinged, but is getting their ping going to take longer than the campsite giving me a Cranky, WHILE I'm TTing and may miss a potential camping day?

Well I was in a similar situation, I make the mistake of letting Peggy move out, this was 2 years ago in my 1st game, because I believed another character of the same personallity will move in, then Filbert moved in, I was stuck with 2 jocks, 2 lazies and 1 of each of the others except Peppy villager, then i built the campsite in hopes of getting a new peppy but months passed and I always got every other personallity except peppy. Last year finally Freckles appeared and I accepted her to move in. I really wanted the peppy projects, so this was a pain, I couldn't risk letting another one move in because the posibility of a peppy appearing while I was with a full town was always present.
In the end I never got the peppy projects because my whole game got corrupted but that is another story
I let tons of good looking characters go, because a peppy villager was my top priority, what is your priority a cool character or the cranky that you need??
