as the title says, do you write letters to your villagers? if you do, what do you usually write?
whenever i write to my villagers sometimes i'll write an actual message but most of the time its just whatever im doing at the time. like if i'm listening to music, i'll send them song lyrics

I do not send them anymore, but when I did I just wrote "You are awesome!" or "Here is a gift."
I am not sure how much they register so I would never write much.

I usually just type in one or two words or jibberish. Honestly, I'm way too lazy to write out full letters to my villagers anymore.

I never wrote to mine when I had my town. I couldn't stand the sound of the mailbox and the constant shaking.

When I did write at the start of the game, it was just another needless trip to the bin to throw out more unwanted shirts they would always send me. :(

The only time I wrote to them was when I sent them all Epona shirts to wear, as my town was Game of Thrones based, and that shirt was a good fit with that theme.

- An apology letter with a gift attached to it for not attending their house or something that i did made my villager angry
- A simple letter with gift where it fits my villager aesthetics
- A joke letter, but i rarely make it

I used to send a lot of letters, but now only 1-3 times a week

I've actually had a major change in this regard recently. I used to just send random pieces of furniture or clothing I ended up with, because I love my neighbors and want to be nice to them. However I started thinking on the fact that it's been a very, very, VERY long time since I ever got a piece of sloppy furniture in my game, and it's a set I'd really like to complete, so I started looking up ways to help these pieces spawn.

One thread I found explained that most characters have a piece of sloppy or cardboard furniture somewhere in their inventory and they'll eventually get rid of it, but they need to lose their other furniture items first. D'oh, I thought, because this means I've actually been INCREASING their inventories all this time and just making things tougher on myself! The thread recommended sending them junk items that can take up room in their inventory and force them to use furniture items when they're giving something away; this particular thread recommended seashells. Okay, easy enough, I thought. I started collecting seashells and sending them to my neighbors (especially my most recent one, since obviously I wouldn't have messed up his inventory as much). Unfortunately, a few days later I discovered he'd listed one of the seashells for sale in ReTail -- something the thread I'd read said my neighbors couldn't do! D'OH, now I just messed it up even more!!

So, now my plan (or rather, my hope) is to just take any opportunity I can to siphon items away from them. If they give me a time capsule, I don't return it to them. If they ask me for a new piece of furniture, I give them a fish or a bug, since (so far as I know, anyway) those DEFINITELY can't be listed at ReTail. If they invite me over, I always say yes, so I can buy one of their items while I'm there. And of course, it means I'm now sending them nothing in the mail. I might still send letters if I end up with some stationery, but I'm not doing it just to be nice anymore. And to be honest, it feels pretty terrible, because I just want to be nice to my neighbors!!

im trying to send regular letters to my villagers to get their friendship up, sp that they will be more likely to request public works projects. Generally i just write a few sentences saying how cool i think they are and how much i love them and attach a perfect peach.

Back when I only had one town, I used to send each villager a letter every week and usually with a gift attached. I talked about all sorts of things in the letters: upcoming holidays, season changes, events that were happening in town, etc. I tried to send them clothing that I wanted them to wear or items that I wanted them to display in their houses. I kept this up regularly for about a year and a half.

Then, I started a second town and since then I really haven't had time to keep up with sending my villagers letters. It makes me kind of sad and it's something I'd like to get back to doing eventually, but I need to get my second town more established first so that I can spend less time on the daily routines.

Anything long enough to earn me the bronze badge, back when I played. I was never really a fan of writing so I just included whatever amount of characters you needed lol.

I used to write lots of letters back then, like there were times I actually wrote everyday at least one letter to each of my villagers. I mostly wrote simple things like "How do you do?", "You have a nice house", "Hope you like this item here" etc., as I didn't know what else I could talk about with them sometimes, put also some random items often into the letters as a gift. One of my goals was also to get the badges and I managed to even get the silver one in one of my old towns. Over the time, I started to wrote less and less any letters, to a point where I really barely send any at all. I didn't care for the badges anymore and I became just very lazy in general to write anything, mostly because I also got bored to read the same replies from my villagers over and over again.

Well early in the game I used to write gibberish just to get the job done and send my letter/present. I didn't care about what they send me back because it's always a general automated message (I honestly don't even read them anymore). But soon I started to care about the letters I would send them that they'd show me. It quickly started to annoy me when they'd show me the low quality letter I sent them months ago in a conversation :P So I started writing more meaningful letters that would be useful if it was showed to me in the future. Just little reminders such as "Make sure you call mom once in a while" or encouraging messages to myself, haha. I actually do call my mom as often as I can... but when I read that in a letter I call her right away :'D It's just a cute little future time capsule for myself.

I normally only write to the villagers I really like. I write as if they actually understand me- news flash, they can't- but I enjoy it. :) Sometimes I write funny or offensive letters just for kicks.

For the villagers I like, I normally give them presents. Perfect fruit, superb coffee beans, and furniture/clothes in the theme that they like. It gets their friendship up faster! The only way to a friends' heart is through worldly bribery.
