What do you miss from old animal crossing games?

Wisp, Blanca, acorn festival, signs for villager houses, having a flag by your house... And the upper and lower part of your town, and being able to place coconut trees on the lower part.. Oh and also the look of the carnations, they were so cute and fluffy in LGTTC! Now they're very rose-like and like love flowers... :/ I also liked the community of previous games better, now a lot of people are perfectionists and organize literally everything, instead of just playing and enjoying the game. I also liked the idea of the city better, and the layout. It was lovely that Phineas was the balloon and pinwheel man as well, I much prefer that over his current job.

Bon Bonne mentioned the shopping card, wasn't that a sort of bank card you could use to buy from your savings? I totally forgot that was a thing, but it was a pretty nice thing indeed!

Acorn festival! I forgot about that.

i started with NL and you guys are making me want to buy city folk :o

If you buy anything I would buy Wild World. Though City Folk was amazing on the big screen, Wild World had so much (and still does have so much) nostalgic charm.

Wait, was the original gamecube game called population growing? I never knew that! And I've been playing for nearly my whole life....

The morning aerobics, that was just too cute and I think it would have worked really well in New Leaf with the town plaza and all that.. ><

This should probably be in the General Animal Crossing thread, but I really missed the ball you kicked around, the NES games, the way Redd's shop was set up, and Wisp. I also miss the old GameCube exclusive characters. I also missed Totakeke, excuse me, DJ KK, before he came a ****ing sellout!

I miss the music from PG, that and the top down view. I hated it but loved it at the same time; something about it just added to the charm. Also the larger towns from ACCF and ACPG (new leaf always just seems to have blah and small layouts!!)

I had animal crossing for my GameCube, but spent a WHOLE bunch of time playing wild world with my best friend over the summers when we would babysit her. We were about 10-11 years old. I just miss the "innocence" of playing with a friend and exchanging fruits and visiting eachothers towns without knowing any cheats. Her dad did print out a packet of bug/fruit/fish etc. prices for us, but we only used it to see how many bells we would earn! We usually played around 7 or 8 in the morning when her parents would first drop her off, so I was always excited to see what new things my town had in store like the weather, special visitors, and new items at the police station. Oh, and also to see if my fruit trees produced more fruit to sell or not! I think I miss the nostalgia more than anything and that's why I still play ACNL even though I'm 19!

The dialog of the villagers and the shopkeepers, yes i'll admit some of what the snooty and cranky villagers used to say was rude but it's what gave them more personality. Especially in wild world, where you get to know the shopkeepers and villagers a WHOLE lot better than in new leaf in my opinion.

I miss the ignorance I had when I played the game on gamecube and didn't know about plot resetting and such....I just had /fun/.

Blathers, just, my goodness more blathers. I always loved listening to him as he talked about fossils, fishes, and bugs when you gave them to him. Even after multiple play throughs, he was always so much fun to listen to.

Yeah they need to get some more personality into the dialogue. City folk is where it took an absolute nose dive, it sat at that same level for new leaf. Quite a shame, really. I thought I was just growing out of the games when I found myself never caring about my villagers or making friends with them until I played the GameCube version again recently. I instantly realized it was actually interesting to talk to them, funny at times. Not really the case anymore. Well, for me. I'm not dissing anyone who is still enjoying things as they are now.

I feel that way about many games, ignorance is bliss ^_^ you don't overthink anything, you don't get stressed by planning stuff out... You just play and enjoy.

I agree and disagree with this. I used to dread going to the museum before because it would take SO long to get back out. Especially in the beginning of the game when literally everything you catch is new and is to be put in the museum. You'd spend 5 minutes catching an inventory of bugs only to spend 15 in the museum just scrolling by text. I think they should give you an option to listen to him, or if you donate just one thing he will give an explanation but if you donate multiples he will be short and sweet like he is now. The problem with the lack of explanation is the lack of personality that comes with it. Again, going back to my first response. Hard to balance personality and charm with lack of tediousness in this case.

I miss the olympic games ( or whatever they were) in the original animal crossing. Hopefully the next game brings it back and you can actually participate in them this time.

I agree about balloons. I always groan whenever I see a balloon these days, because I know it's going to be another piece of balloon furniture. For that reason I always try to shoot them down over the river or on a spot where they'll disappear. I also hate the silver slingshot! I get one every freaking day, and the fact that I can't throw it away bothers me. Running all the way to Retail just to sell it is a pain.

I also miss how the villagers had personality. Now they all seem so flat and kind of boring...

Uh that was the sports Festival! I think, it was always around in uuuh, Spring, either that or Morning Aerobics, which was early in the morning every day in summer.
