I can never be satisfied with my mayor's house. I've tried filling it up with the mermaid set, and mixing it with a few other pieces but I'm never happy with the way it looks. I try to make my mayor's house look like an actual house, like have one room be the kitchen, the other be the bedroom, bathroom, etc. But the front/entry room... I can never figure out what to do with it. I have such a hard time filling all that blank space, I've looked at decor blogs on Tumblr and I get a little sad TBH because they have their rooms so put together. I'm not sure if it's because I don't have a TON of furniture items that go well together, or if I actually just suck at decorating that room. Right now I have most of the mermaid set as my entry room, but I've grown kind of bored of it. I want to change it to something that I can easily redecorate when the seasons/holidays change.

Since the front room has to be so large before you get your other rooms, what have you guys done to bring it together? I notice that a lot of people do one theme per room, but like I said- I just want it to be simple and be able to switched up when holidays roll around. I really like the Alpine set, but it just doesn't seem like it is enough to fill up the entire room.

Anyone have any decor blogs on Tumblr that post new decor screen shots fairly often? All the ones I checked out hadn't been updated in months.

tldr; I hate how large the entry room is, and right now the mermaid set is what's in mine. What do you recommend I do to change it and make it home-like, rather than a themed room.

Yep same here. I have a fireplace with villager pics on the mantle and a couch and two armchairs around it. I'm using mainly the minimalist set and decorating with paintings and bonsai trees. I also have a corner with a desk/computer since it didn't really fit in the bedroom.

I really like the idea. You guys think minimalist and alpine sets are the best for it? Not a huge fan of the cabin set. Maybe when winter time hits I could swap it out, but not right now.

You could also make your room into something like a foyer or "main hallway." My main room is based off of the main hallway in Skyhold in Dragon Age: Inquisition; it has a throne and some tables with food on them, two statues, and some stained glass. I'm not sure if I'm adding anything else to it.

living room was my opinion, but I think minimalist or sleek could look. Of course, it depends on gender

I have the modern wooden set in mine, with some splashes of pink and japanese games (shogi board and the other one that looks similar). Plants, and some Gulliver items that go well with the set.

I'm gonna be turning mine into a comfort room once I get more items in the catalog that go with this theme of mine. I want it to have a relaxing feel to it, like a few fireplaces and couches and things like that. For now though, it's an empty room where I put various things that have no other place yet. (like the random throne I got from Mira for complimenting her house...)

I put out some sofas and a table with a tea set on it in the middle, then I filled it up with all the things I liked that didn't fit into my other rooms. So it's sort of a left over room, the kind of room you receiving guests you want to impress in.

I usually make mine a livingroom.I like using patterns on some of the furniture, I like to mix different sets together.

Sometimes all a room needs is some new wallpaper and flooring to make a room special. I recently made a Booker and Copper main room. I wasn't happy with it. Good old Saharrah came over and she gave me a wall and floor that actually looked good for a change. It completely changed the room. Now I love it.

I've been going through this same struggle too, it's because there are no windows so you have to make it not look dull, and also because of so many door ways, there's less room

when i first got serious about my house, i was aiming for lyle's approval so i got a bunch of sets and themed every room. my main room is a sweets living room? there are the sofas, a table, and cake/pie. theres also the dresser and closet, which is strange considering its supposed to be a living room, but it looks pretty ok, so whatever! and it leads perfectly into the back room, which is a kitchen.

i think just go for whatever. i think people might say my house is unoriginal because of all the sets, but i did work pretty hard and im too lazy to go back and do that house again, so all in all, i must say if it looks good, stick with it!
