What do you do with your flowers when they go crazy?

i had SO many hybrids and i just ended up selling them to the box late at night... but then i ended up selling too many and lost my five star rating, so my friends brought over excess and now the flower patch has started regrowing out of control again

They were just out of control for quite awhile, then I did giveaways here on BTF. I still had a lot left and decided to either trash them or sell them, depending on my mood. I saved 6 of each, but I think I'm going to get rid of those as well. I have a hybrid garden with one of each (except that stupid blue rose that just will not grow!) and even though I don't water, I get plenty of spawns with the rain. They get out of control so easily, I'm considering laying a transparent path next to all my flowers so they won't spawn.

they're rarely out of control now bc of the custom patterns i've madly lay out, but before they were everywhere. when i'm too lazy to care i let the madness continue, but when i get absolutely sick of em i trash them since selling them off here on the forum / nooklings takes too much time for me

Luckily the next two months should be pretty dry. I'm going to make sure that pretty much none of the flowers have anywhere to spread to by the time it starts raining again...

My preferred strategy for now is digging up patches at a time and dumping them in the drop-off box. It's a huge task but not so bad if you do small bits at a time! We're getting there. I'm finally able to dance about in the rain again. No more nightmares

I surround them with weeds to scare them into no longer breeding like rabbits. Then they become friends and talk behind my back. In all seriousness, I dig them up and sell them.

i spent a solid month trying to get rid of all the flowers that my island was drowning in. i did a giveaway at first, and then ended up just digging up & trashing the rest. it was a nightmare, never again will i let them get so out of hand lol

I've been slowly trashing/selling mine (depending on whether the store or a trash can is closer), and have been getting rid of multiple inventories full for about two weeks. I had let them just grow freely for months until practically every square was full of flowers, so it's taking a long time to fix. If they're original red/yellow/white flowers (ie. from a bag, and can be used to breed hybrids) I try to re-plant them on my beach or along the cliffs so I can use them again for hybrids in the future if necessary.

To keep them from re-growing, I'm putting down transparent tiles bordering all my flowers so I block them off from areas where I don't want them.

I'm trying to keep 15 of every color (including hybrids) and getting rid of the rest, but it's hard because I have to run all over trying to find all the flowers of each breed and color, count them, dig up the extras... I never realized how many flower varieties and colors there were until I started to get rid of them!

Also, even keeping just 15 of each, I still don't have enough places that need decorating or where they would look nice. I haven't quite figured out a solution yet... I just wish we could put flowers in storage!

It's funny, because people generally hate weeds. At least if you're a green thumb or are having people come over and want to make your yard look nice. But then you see them in Animal Crossing and want to decorate your island with them. Maybe not you, but some people do.

I can understand that. People just like having more plant customization I think.

Of course! It gives it more of a natural look, too. I think during autumn they end up looking like wheat, which if you're going for a farm or something, maybe that would be one thing to use.

If they were hybrids, I put them on the beach and then did a few giveaways with them. If they were regular flowers, I trashed them.

Then I started a small flower field between my cliffs and the beach so they won't grow anymore. And now that I've trapped all flowers with transparent squares, I just sell them to the store lol.
