oh.. i thought they had some good luck charm capabilities to them atleast for feng shui or room rating or somthing!! Maybe even attribute to the 5 star rating but idk!!! Just had a cute idea to make a little kitty play area lol

They raise your luck a little bit if you have them in the main room of your house, according to a data mine. Luck literally only applies to the main room of the house to raise it.
This. The gold lucky cat is a "lucky" item according to the NH guidebook but luck influence is not in the game just yet apparently, unless you count tripping. It is worth a lot of hha points though @Lotusblossom

I would really like to see this datamine as well! I thought luck didn't exist in NH - and that items only effect home design scoring.
Unfortunately I don't have a link to the datamine as Ninji tweets 20 times a day so it's super hard to find. One might be able to find it googling "Ninji Animal Crossing Data Mines" but again, not sure if it's publicly released with all notes and such on the coding. Here are the 16 "lucky" items in the game according to their data mine. Honestly I'm not entirely sure what luck applies to though but these give the "bonus". It definitely works with the HHA score at the least.

I have the guide and lucky gold cat is one of the hha lucky items that gives you adds to your score. There are items that are lucky for a certain season(for example the scorpion will only give you the bonus during summer) and ones that are lucky year round and the lucky gold cat is year round. you need the diy for lucky gold cat and it takes a lucky black cat and a gold nugget to make.
