what did you guys think of Lady Gaga's tribute to David Bowie at the Grammy's?

I thought it was... okay. I mean, I'm glad that somebody stepped up and did it, and I guess she's probably the best candidate in that setting.

I just came away with the impression that it wasn't her best work, altho i'm not very familiar with her concerts or anything. She was singing most of the songs in a pitchy deep voice for some reason, maybe she couldnt hear herself. and i wasnt sure what was going on with her twitchy dance moves, they were not Bowie-esque; i'm not the most familiar with her style though, maybe thats how she always dances? anybody know?

I have no earthly idea whether David Bowie himself woulda liked it or not. my guess would be- yes.

I don't know, I don't really watch music awards a hell lot (and they don't really air the huge Grammy thing here either). I'm surprised she's still around doing stuff sometime though. I guess her dress and hair was cool though and whatnot.. but we do have only one original though. Not a big fan of her music/singing.

Kinda neutral, she's done worse lol.

I've seen Gaga live, and she is all about the performance. Everything has a theme. This case she must have done a lot of work in trying to emulate Bowie. I could take Bowie with a pinch of salt so can't comment on any of his performances. But she probably wanted to keep her distance as well, because it's a tribute to Bowie, not a cover song. So it didn't want to be TOO Bowie or TOO Lady Gaga.

The Grammy performance was sponsored by Intel so a lot of it was using technology to look fancy, so her performance could have been scuppered by that as well.

She was probably singing in a lower key to allow her vocal range to sit comfortably on all of the songs she performed. Still allowing her some freedom to hit higher notes with power. So the songs with the low notes would have been a lot lower, so she could still comfortably hit the higher notes on We Could Be Heroes at the end.

It was a suitably fancy performance, with a few bum notes and it felt a bit rushed.

While there is only one Bowie, there is also only one Gaga and I could feel the respect and love she has for him and his memory, so I was fine with that.

I found the lower key odd bc it was on songs that Bowie sang in a high key or even a kind of falsetto originally.
