Did you put them in neighborhood? Or spread them out? ‘

I am having my villagers spread out on my island in little groups of 2 or 3. What about you?

On my first island I had two cliffs, one on the right and one on the left. With five houses on each cliff in little neighborhoods. I just restarted, though, and I'm thinking of doing one big neighborhood. Five houses on top with five houses on the bottom connected with path. The center would be some kind of small park or other recreational area. Though, I'm not entirely set on that though. I'm still looking for inspiration!

They're in a grid format. 5 on one side and 5 on the other. I want a downtown area with my plaza in the center.

I tend to put Villagers I have a connection with close to my player's house, then spread everyone else out evenly. On my current island, that would be Skye, who is directly beside my player's house and Wolfgang, who is a little bit further away but still fairly close to my player's house.

I'm currently in the process of redesigning my island and its current layout may force me to keep villagers fairly closer to each other this time around.

Mine are lined up on the grass along the beach. I figure they are beach houses, while my house is a cottage in the forest. There's a couple of shared yards, but there's not enough room to give each there own yard.

I used to have to have them all close to each other. 6 homes were all together and the other four I had them on a second/third level. I decided to completely destroy my island and now int in the process of scattering them by one or twos.

I have Sherb near my house. Then I have a neighborhood of four up in the second level to the left of my Tudor garden. To the right of it I have a place for Velma's house. Back near my secret beach there is a villager house. And Flo and Piper live on the first level on the left side of the river. And Marina lives on the beach.

So, they are both scattered about and living in a neighborhood!

I have four villagers positioned along the river on one side of my island, and the other six are positioned in a small neighborhood format on the other side of the island.

Most are scattered around in groups of two. I like the idea of living in those rural areas where your closest neighbor is a few miles away. In this case, an acre away.

Scoot, Ursala, Jambette, Freya, and Cyd are in a neighbourhood close to town hall, the rest are scattered around: Tabby and Erik live by themselves in the North West and North East corners of the map. Ken and Hamphrey live together in a little village, and Dizzy and I live close by in the back of the map.

Mine are all scattered, although loosely organized by species.

I've tried the neighborhood style before and it was super convenient to be able to run around and see exactly which villagers were inside (and possibly crafting) and which weren't, but the scattered style works better with the aesthetic of the rest of my island.

I have 5 of them together in a neighborhood, and then 2 groups of 2 houses on different parts of the island, and Octavian my cranky villager is on a cliff by himself.

I have them spread around and try to put them in areas I think they’d like - Tank is on the beach where he can do his 900 laps a day with a gym area on the shore beside him, Beardo is in a reading nook behind the museum, etc. I want to put Ike next to me but I still haven’t built anywhere for my house yet 😆

I made a little residential area/ neighborhood, might spread them out into little nooks if I get bored with the game.

i originally had them all packed in tight together (like literally only 2 squares apart) in one area but then moved them all to spread randomly around the map, it gives so much more space to decorate and looks more natural

I have three of my villagers spaced out on my beaches and then the rest of them are clustered together in a neighbourhood. I like to have a mix of having the houses together and spread out.

My villagers have their own neighborhood. It's been like that for a while. They live on the lower right of my island by the beach in a row of four, then above that are two rows of three. I made sure that they were equally spaced out.

I love it, but the only thing I dislike is that they have veryyyyy tiny yards.

I used to have them all in “streets” lumped together with little yards. I hated it and decided to redo almost half my island to give them more space.

Now I have two seperate “wilderness residential areas” for them. I decorated their house exteriors with personalised areas according to their hobbies. For example: Fauna, Sherb and Stella (nature) share a flower farm, while Kiki and Diana (education) have a shared outdoor library.

i did a bit of both! i have 6 of my villagers in a neighbourhood and the other 4 are in their own little individual areas aha c’:
