What are the little things in ACNL that annoy you?

^Thanks for clarification, the complaints were about custom designs in the first place

Anyway,
Me: I don't like to control my villagers, it's nice to only think about what I'm doing for once :)
Also Me: I will cycle through all my villagers until Deirdre moves out from in front of my bridge
That part of town was pathless for a while, but now I know my lesson and will be chill again when the houses are plotted properly.

Rocks. Whenever I find the perfect spot to place a pwp, there's always a rock in the way. Can't they just drill the rocks open and pull them out of the ground with a shovel?

When bug catching, after you cast your net, if you don't catch anything, rhe character poses for a few seconds if you don't catch anything, and you can't move your character, thus giving whatever bug you were trying to catch time to get away. This is extremely annoying on bug catching island tours tenfold.

I don't know if I was ever able to pull it off in NL but I remember in past games you could catch the bug on a tree while the flying-way animation was playing. - of course thats only possible if you just scare it away and don't fail to catch it because of this built-in delay... ^^||

Like everyone else - rocks
Only being able to have cedar trees in the north
Christmas lights only going on cedar trees which mean bottom half is dull around Xmas
Pitfall seeds, I have mine buried away in the corner of my town
Pesky mosquitoes irritate the life out of me
Villagers trying to give me nicknames, like today within the space of 10 mins Static tried to give me a nickname twice
Villagers trying to sell crumy shirts for sharks
Letters being to short, I was in full rant mode but ran out of room writing my letters
Having to visit 3 houses that I've supposed met through streetpass for 1 meow coupon when in fact I have only met 1 person
You can only design tops through normal designs, not bottoms or even using patterns as dresses, I'd rather that than hats

I wish fruit would get stacked automatically without us having to drag them.

The unneccessary dialogue that follows when buying things like wrapping paper, and having Timmy/Tommy explain it to you each time as if you don?t already know.

I want the catalog to be on both the 1st and 2nd floors of the T&T Emporium. First floor for convenience for ordering stuff or checking if I have stuff from Kicks/Able Sisters before I buy it and second floor so I can check if I already bought the furniture and wallpaper/floors or not.

I think streetpass is the one most unfair part of this game. You can clearly see all the good intention they had, but it?s just unfair to people who don?t live in huge cities, carry their 3ds around all day and didn?t play when the game was just released (or just changed their town at least once..)

I just want an indication of you having that in your catalogue. Like a little symbol next to the item name or just two-three words added in the buying dialogue like "it seems this is already in your catalogue". Checking the catalogue each time is always a lot of work.
I personally use an app so I don?t have so walk to the catalogue whenever I see an item, but I would like to just have a simple indication without the need to check a list so a little symbol/dot above the item name would make my life so much better (but just adding a few words to the purchase-dialogue would go a long way to make shopping more comfortable). There is so much unnecessary dialogue in the game already, adding half a sentence (that actually is usefull) when trying to buy an item isnt that bad.

Thank you for reminding me that you can't take top down photos of rooms without the secret storeroom (unless Lottie's tutorial is flagged after any expansion after the update and I'm misinterpreting) : /

I bought ACNL long after the update, and I didn't get Lottie's tutorial until after buying the secret storeroom (Not my first unobiligated expansion either). So yes, your assumption is correct.

I hate it when the villagers are moving in the middle of my tree farm! *cries* That happened a lot of times on my old town. I started new today and a villager moved right next to my house!! like wth! I dont want you to be near me T_T argh. It would be nice if you could move their houses :'>

The fact that building the Garbage Can PWP lowers your town rating. We're not supposed to have trash lying around but when we build the place to throw out trash we get punished.

Harvey is selling a garbage can furniture item in my campground today--if you're around when I get home from work you're welcome to come buy it! (5 meow coupons).

I totally concur.

You should be rewarded for building the shirt dumpster.

I'm not entirely sure, but I have a feeling that this is a result of Japanese culture. Maybe someone could correct me on this or add things that I miss, but both times I've visited Japan (first time on holiday in Tokyo for 2 weeks, second time traveling the country for 3 months) I noticed there are almost no public bins anywhere, and many other tourists and backpackers I met mentioned the exact same thing. I thought that it may perhaps be because bins are seen as being dirty themselves, which could be true, but after a quick Google I came across this article. It includes a section on the Broken Windows Theory, which a staff member at a hostel I stayed at in Osaka also told me he believed was the reason for it. As such, it could be that this perception has carried over into the international versions of the game, which seems odd to most Europeans and Americans at least.

oh man, I have some...

-villagers moving onto the worst spots (this causes me the most stress)
-on beautiful ordinance, flowers can cover an entire town and can be cumbersome to deal with, especially when villagers plant them all over
-gold badges being so high/hard sometimes (5000 BALLOONS POPPED??)
-trying to deliver something to a villager who is up at main st/the museum, and combing thru those locations to find them
-villagers wanting to hang out but wanting a specific time (like 45 minutes later)
-same villagers telling you to take a break tho if you play for that long
-some of the NPCs have too much dialogue
-kicks covers the screen when you try on his shoes sometimes

I have been playing the game five years now (this month). No. 1 with me, lately, is that it takes too long to get Public Works Projects requested by villagers. This was not a good design to “Animal Crossing: New Leaf.”

Japan also doesn't have the same culture around "eating on the go" as we do in America (actually most of the world doesn't). So you'll find that even the vending machines out on the streets, people will generally drink their drink and then move on, whereas Americans drink and go. From what I remember, there were generally trash or recycling bins near those vending machines, but otherwise, they were hard to find.

(Also public restrooms often don't have toilet paper. A common advertising give away is a pack of disposable paper cloth with a flier in it, that I thought at first was tissues but now think was meant for toilet paper.)

I never had a problem finding toilet paper in the toilets personally, but I'm aware of the vending machine thing. If I was thirsty enough, I'd drink the whole thing there and then too, but if I needed to stay hydrated throughout the day I'd still just carry it around with me. There's a drink I absolutely adored called Berry Match, any machine I could find that stocked that I would use immediately.
