I used to play candy crush as a distraction. It was so relaxing that it was the only game that could help me forget about pain when I was feeling sick. It?s not really working anymore so I?m wondering if anyone plays games like that to help relax? I know animal crossing is really relaxing, but I feel like it?s too casual so i don?t need to concentrate on it hard enough to make me forget about other things

dont really play any relaxing games, but you could always try youtube? or like idk the sims or something that's really distracting lol

I have chronic pain and often can't work. A lot of the time I'm in too much pain to enjoy games anymore. Animal Crossing usually keeps me alive, but I've been playing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night lately (Castlevania) and while it's not "calm and relaxing", it's very distracting in a relaxing kind of way. Trying to 100% a game while mindlessly grinding to level up and get item drops is really good. It's fun enough to suck me into the world entirely and I don't have to think about it too much about it either.

Animal Crossing
Minecaft
Rune Factory (recently got it and i'm very happy!)
Tomodachi Life
Fantasy Life

I personally final hack & slash and strategy games to provide a much better distraction than simulation games. Which genre I lean towards depends on what I need a distraction from. Strategy games are mentally engaging so great for trying to take your mind off physical pain whereas cutting down hordes of enemies with ease in hack & slash is just so greatly satisfying.

i actually do have the sims on my laptop so i can try that the next time, thank you ^^ i mostly use youtube as background noise these days

im actually not a big fan of most rpgs where a big part of leveling up is done through fights because i'm too lazy to kill enemies. xD i've tried a lot of them and none of them really caught my attention so i'm hesitant to buy bloodstained. the graphics look great though so it's a shame ;; thank you for the recommendation!

I actually bought Dynasty warriors 8 about two years ago because i was interested in learning a bit more about history through the game. :P i never got into it but i'll give it a try again. will probably set the difficulty on the easiest so i can slay the enemies without too much effort.

Coincidentally I sank 8hrs into DW8 today! :p

Definitely turn the difficulty down. What most people won't tell you is that harder difficulties were designed with the idea that you'll have levelled up/unlocked better weapons before attempting them!

There's a few games I find pretty relaxing, Sims (3 or 4) distracts me for quite a few hours, Minecraft is pretty relaxing especially in creative mode, Stardew valley is a cute little farming sim and it's fun to play.

Back in the days, I found Nintendogs quite relaxing, it was a "calm down and feel happy" game for me.

Definitely stardew valley. While it wasn't my type of game I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't for its limitations and how fast the day went. I also found the liar princess and the blind prince relaxing.

Sometimes I like to put a shooter or something on the lowest difficulty and basically run around punching stuff, using weapons that aren't great on harder difficulties or just try doing stuff that's a bit too difficult to do usually.

I did this on Oblivion and just went through the game basically killing everything with a couple punches and enjoying the silly rag doll physics.

Obviously depends on your tastes and ability. If you dont like violent games, probably wont be fun. If you play on easiest difficulties anyway, you wont feel as invincible.

Also, any of the Dynasty Warriors games and their spin offs (except 9, that's awful). Its just relaxing to effortlessly cut through hundreds of enemies like butter.

There's The Messenger! It's a classic platformer type that is pretty dang easy(imo). The characters are endearing too lol.

i actually already have stardew valley and have spent 78h in total so far xD there's definitely a bunch of things i still need to work on for my farm. i was really into it when i first got it but the hype for it has died down.

ahah yes such a coincidence.
i think i was playing the normal difficulty, but i am horrible at slaying enemies and i don't play any first person shooters like game so it's really tricky for me to angle the camera correctly to walk x-x thank you for the heads up!

aww definitely, nintendogs was the reason why i wanted a DS when i was young, but my parents never let me. my friend brought it today and lent it to me so i was able to play it for a bit after like 10 years of wanting to haha.

i'm unfortunately not a bit fan of shooting games ;; thank you for the recommendations though!

ahh it sounds like a really cute game i'll definitely put that on my wishlist and wait for a sale to get it xD
thank you!

Pretty much any Nintendo game is very relaxing! :3

As of something non-Nintendo... hmm. Maybe LittleBigPlanet? I found it to be quite peaceful. Also PixelJunk Monsters 2 - very-very relaxing.

Katamari Forever is one of my favorites to play while relaxing, especially on eternal mode!

While I wouldn't consider it distracting- in fact, kinda the opposite, Oxygen Not Included is a really good game for distracting you from things. You become so concerned about your little duplicant colony, you'll do anything to help them survive.

I find no man's sky to be super relaxing in creative mode
also stardew valley and harvest moon

Playing Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life back then was always relaxing for me. It's a game with no stress, no
action (like in the way where you have to fight against a final boss or something) and the atmosphere is so
beautiful there, like walking through the town, taking care of your farm and animals, building up the life of
your character etc. Although the game becomes kinda sad here and there when you play the story till the
end (I don't want to spoil it, even if it's a old game). But overall, it's a great, kinda dreamy game and very
enjoyable to play.

Besides A Wonderful Life, I also find Tomodachi Life a relaxing game, since you only have to take care
of your Miis and the their home while also witness some quite funny moments.

Slime Rancher is a really relaxing game. It's all very adorable and really gets rid of the stress, and it's so much fun too, there's always something to do in that game. Plus, it was like an adventure to me just exploring the world.
