I heard from Molly I should leave the weeds alone till weeding day.
What does she mean by that? I thought many weeds would spawn on weeding day?

I never played the game when it was weeding day, but I think if you leave the weeds alone, you get items from Leif you only can get on weeding day. I also heard though if your town is free of weeds, you'll get an option of three topiaries that you can have as public work projects.

You will get certain items from the weeding day set for each number of weeds you pick. If you have no weeds, you can get 3 weeding day public works projects.

To add on to that, you need about 30 weeds for 1 piece of Weeding Day furniture, and also, the furniture is divided into 2 sets: one you can get within your town, and another you have to travel to another town to get (sort of how the Fishing Tourney furniture is divided into 2 sets). Honestly speaking, it's near impossible to get the whole set without TTing, or enlisting the help of someone who has TTed to fill their town with weeds (or you could've not weeded since December or something haha).

I was lucky enough to be able to visit a weed-infested town to get the whole set (try lurking around the Train Station subforum and I'm sure you'll find someone willing to let you do the same sometime ), so I'll be going for the topiaries this year .

For some reason on weeding day I received an item from Leif and I didn't even have weeds lol. Idk if that was suppose to happen or not, but I'd advise you not to pull any weeds until weeding day

If you want to unlock the PWP topiaries the weeds need to be gone. Weeding Day only comes once a year and that's when you unlock. Check your town for weeds and remove all of them before you quit. Use the camera to check behind trees and buildings.

No weeds you'll get the topiaries. All your side players can go visit Leif and get a in town prize. There isn't a lot of in town prizes.

You can win all the out of town prizes all year long. Find an online friend that will do the same. Each time one of you has weeds and Leif is sleeping outside PM and open the gates. Visitor has to pick 30 weeds and the host can pick the rest. Visitor gets the out of town gift and host gets the in town gift.
Be prepared to get a lot of doubles or more. You can trade the doubles or more with your online friend.
I think I have 5 sunflower stereos sitting on my side town beach.

I'm confused. On the day before weeding day, all the weeds need to be removed before 6AM. To get those PWP's.

BUT ON WEEDING DAY YOU WOULD HAVE NO WEEDS AT ALL! What sense does that make?

Maybe I'm missing something here.

I think it's a matter of you choosing if you want the items or the pwps, if you go for the pwps you need to be weedless, if you go for the items you need to let the weeds be

Yes it is normal, I got the item( one for each player) and I unlocked the topiaries without having a single weed in my town.

I did some major weed pulling in Granada yesterday, and Westerly has the Beautiful Town Ordinance in effect, which already means fewer weeds. Both of these tactics worked to perfection, as both Westerly and Granada were weed free this morning, so Leif gave me the Special Cleanup Award (the three PWP topiaries) in both of my towns.

I feel bad for the people who only have 1 or 2 weeds on Weeding Day. They don't get the topiaries or the special furniture

So, do we just pull all our weeds, then go to Leif for a reward? Or do we pull up a set number of them, go to Leif for a prize, and then pull up more weeds?

I have a question about Weeding Day. I started my town yesterday, and tomorrow I won't be the mayor yet, I'm afraid (my house will be built tomorrow). If I don't have any weeds in my town, will I still be getting the three PWLs in reward? And, even more important, will Leif appear in my town, since I haven't unlocked the gardening store yet?

Clovers are weed though aren't they? Because I have a lots of lucky clovers in my town, and some that are not lucky that just spawned randomly. I wasn't going to pull them all out just to find the weed ones, so I thought I would not get the furniture nor the topiaries. To my surprise this morning Leif told me my town was weed free, which I know for a fact it isn't the case.

Clovers don't count as weeds for this event for some reason. I'm pretty sure they count towards the weed pulling badge though.
