We can remodel villager houses now - Who is first in line for you?

Ankha's house has been looking bad for a long time now due to multiple pieces of clothing and insect cages spread around. I've tried gifting her other things to replace those things, and she'll sometimes replace those things for like a day, but then it goes away the next day. I also feel bad for Kiki. At some point she lost her bed by the placement of something else. I don't know where she sleeps.

Even when you only gift the villagers coconuts, if you actually do the errands for them where they ask you to give something to another villager you can make their house look terrible inadvertently that way too. Also, some of the default houses simply don't fit the villager like they should anyway due to the furniture limitations of 1.0 NH. Muffy's house should have the Rococo set, but obviously it does not.

I'm glad we can now fix villager houses. IMO that feature really makes HHP feel worth it. It's annoying how you can build up a really pretty island, but then the villagers can have clothes everywhere, furniture backwards, etc that looks terrible. This is a feature I've wanted in AC for a long time.

TBH, not many of my current ones come to mind. But ones I've had in the past I would redo if I had them again (seriously, whose house was Paula living in?). Though, I'm planning on looking for Jacques soon, and I'd probably redo his (especially if we can redo exteriors, lol... I really hope we can, I am so picky with having my villager houses match that it'd be GAME CHANGING for me and open up the possibility of so many different villagers). I like his whole design, but when I see him I think "free spirit travelling the world" not "DJ".

Oh, I'd consider doing Vesta, too. Her house is nice, but the whole thing is basically one big laundry room, and if we could do dividers and stuff I could do a nice laundry room AND kitchen or something.

I mean, it's not just him, all starter villagers get similar things. (though I actually though Erik's house was way cooler as a starter home). But I feel ya, especially since I have Antonio in his regular home, and it's one of the ones I immediately thought I wouldn't really change, because it's super cute. Maybe new wallpaper and stuff, but otherwise it's actually really cute. It's not too childish, but manages to keep a whimsical, boyish feel all the same.

I know, his regular house looks great!

And I realize all starter houses are meh, but the others I’ve seen have had different core colors. A house with blue paint and a blue wood floor and a blue table looks less depressing than a house that’s all white wood to me—Antonio’s house looks like it’s not even livable. Like he moved into an abandoned construction project. Other starter houses look boring to me, but a little more like actual houses. That’s just my opinion, though!

I'm not sure WHO precisely as I recently restarted and am not yet sure who my lineup will be in full, but I do know there have been villagers I like who I would not have on my island previously because I hated their house so much...so I feel like this opens up a lot of options. I'm SO glad for this feature!

Kiki. I've barely gifted her anything displayable outside of a few clothes. But for some reason, girl literally has about 4-5 pieces of furniture in her house right now.

Gaston, Claude and Dotty all need a revamp on my island. Dotty's house is the peppy basic one, which I do enjoy but she deserves a house that matches her better. Gaston and Claudes' houses are pretty plain so I wouldn't mind spicing their decor up.

Assuming we'll be able to completely remodel everything and change all the house furniture belonging to the first original villagers, Sylvana, Agnes, Sly and Apple. I was willing to let go of Apple because her real house is so much better, but now I could simply copy it lol.

erik for sure! his little cabin in NL looked so warm and inviting, so the ice furniture that he has in NH really bugs me. then there's the wallpaper and flooring both being so bright.... first time i set foot in his new house i instinctively started squinting.

I’m probably gonna do Erik first and then just work my way from the bottom to top (I have a villager neighborhood. Erik’s in the middle, but it’ll be easier to work on him and then go back to just working my way forward from the start.) I mainly wanna give Erik his dream house.

right!!! like i don't even mind the ice furniture on its own, i think it suits some villagers, but it's just not the ~erik vibe~. we must rescue him!

I want to add more items to both Bones and Kyle's home. They both have really great default homes already, but it can look much better with some of the new furniture items we've seen! The villager home I'd like to completely redesign though is Eugene's. I do think his private investigator theme is cool, but just too "clean" for him. Likely will change it completely to a rockstar theme, that disco ball ceiling item would be great for him!

With the new DLC coming out, owners of said DLC will be able to remodel our islanders houses. This is something people have been pining after since launch given the starter houses existing and villagers being as keen as ever to display their prized sea bass collections. I thought it would be fun to get a discussion going on who is The Villager on your island who is first in line due to house decoration related crimes? We might as well have fun with it and post pictures of our disaster houses too as one last hurrah.

I lack images right now but my girl Claudia is definitely first in line. I respect her life choices of displaying every single dress I've given her but every time I visit it feels like I'm in a thrift store. She also has a fruit basket on her stove that has been driving me (and the fire department, I'm sure) up the walls for over a year now. The second I get my hands on that basket it's going out the window.

I missed that in the direct! I saw we could decorate villagers houses for their dream vacation house but i missed it mentioning our island’s villagers. That is exciting! I will probably do them all because I feel like all their houses interior had very little effort or thought put into them except for Raymond’s.

Raymond constantly cycles items in his house even though I never gave him items that replaced the default items so i think I may also do his house (and expand seeing we could make their rooms bigger in time) to see if that stops it.

The first villager (once i get the dlc) on my island I’ll decorate their house for will maybe be Sherb (though I’m still debating about letting him go for Dom) since I never thought his interior fit him or his lazy personality, or Punchy or Kiki since they’re my favorites and they definitely need better houses .

Sherb was my tutorial lazy villager, so his house is the tutorial woodsy log cabin type... i want him to have his default house, it's so cute! he's first on my list Ed is second probably bc as much as i appreciate him keeping all the random stuff i give him, it looks weird in his house and i want it gone.

I am going to remodel all of my favorite villager homes because while some of them look good, I want them to look even better and matching the color and style of my island.

The two main ones would be Skye, as she still has her starter house, and Ruby, poor girl doesn’t even own a bed I think I’ll end up doing minor redesigns to everyone else too, mainly to include all the new items

I’m so hyped for decorating their homes, I find the limited space in interiors far less daunting to decorate than general island decoration.

Priorities are probably Ruby’s house (her lack of music and weird space item noises make her home feel like a Lynch film soundtrack hehhh) and Pietro bc my dumb clown boy insists on displaying clothes everywhere.

I kinda wanna make Beau and Sherb’s homes have similar cosy woodland cottage themes in different palettes as they’re neighbours/boyfriends on Gont and I want them to match. (I’m also not a massive fan of either of their current interiors.)

I let Bam move out a while back as my starter jock, but a bit before that I had finally managed to replace his sleeping bag with an actual bed. (I’d say ‘poor guy,’ but I had given him a variety of bed options before that point! He put them all replacing the OTHER furniture that size in his room.) I will definitely be giving him a vacation home with a nice, comfy, not-a-sleeping-bag bed and plenty of workout equipment.

I’ve actually kept most of my starter villagers for a while - Bam stayed for over a year, and while my first Normal moved out relatively early (I may still reinvite Annalise someday,) I still have Mira, Audie, and Cranston. Of them, Cranston’s bothers me most by far, especially the walls and flooring. I’ve given Audie and Mira some furniture that feels a bit more personalized in the interim, and theirs work. Cranston will get a full remodel; Audie and Mira might well get refreshes to bring them more in line with their non-starter homes but I don’t HATE theirs.

I may well change Pietro’s, but only to give him back those springy horses he replaced with hats and such. I’ve been reasonably careful not to give him much big furniture to keep his wheels and moon chairs. His house got SUCH a massive glow-up since New Leaf, he was my first camper and I was horrified because the balloons and illusion walls/floor actively hurt to look at. I love the new one, especially since a lot of my other villagers had samey rattan and wooden furniture looks and his stands out.

Speaking of which, Pancetti is probably getting her kitchen spruced up with the ranch series. It just feels like her, and one of my minor gripes was the relatively limited furniture options meant that a lot of the villagers had similar-looking houses. (I was actually checking interiors after my last couple moveouts to try and avoid that.) That problem will soon be solved!

So about half my current villagers are definitely on The List. Everyone else is manageable, though depending on how much the narrow spaces works with Octavian’s house he might need the same theme but rearranged for navigability.

probably raddle, he’s my favorite villager (never leaving) and i want to change the exterior of his home so bad bc it clashes with my theme. i’d also spruce up the inside of his house as well but keep w his general doctor/science-y theme. it’s more the exterior i’m concerned about!

Probably Freckles and Zucker. Since they're permanent villagers for me I wouldn't mind sprucing up their houses, especially as they're in their starter houses (which, for the record, I don't mind).
