So I just came back from the Island with Club Tortimer, I've never once really had too much of a bad experience.. that is until tonight. This person was on the island and was a hacker, he somehow sent us people home just like someone would do if you were visiting someone's town and would end the session.. but when I got back from the island, my inventory.. completely gone, no more golden net or golden slingshot I had. I'm stuck with a rental net from the island somehow, I don't even know if I can sell it or not to get rid of it. My net and slingshot gone, thankfully he didn't delete my tools I kept in my letters. Also he replaced one of my designs with one of his own.

Just a message to everyone out there. Watch out for hackers online who have ill intent to harm your game, it's unfortunate that they can change and have that much power on your game.

There has been mention of this sort of thing in previous threads. Try resetting?

Thanks for the reply, Reginald! Problem is it saved automatically shortly after, so I can't get anything back unfortunately :( Thanks for the suggestion though for resetting!
I'm trying to remember what thread it was in, but someone had a problem kind of similar to your problem. They weren't really back home, it just looked like it. I forget how they worded it, might not be the same thing. Someone suggested they flip the wifi switch, error, or reset. I forget what they did.

I did start a thread hoping to catalog my experiences on CT with hackers, then I got busy. Not sure if I can bump it again.

Thanks for sharing the thread. I just looked at some of these experiences, that's scary they can do these kinds of things. It saved for me automatically when it kicked me off the island so there's no way for me to get my two golden tools back so I'm upset about that. :(

Not saying all hackers have ill intent, but I really want to stay cautious about who I'm dealing with on the island after dealing with this, I had no idea they could do these things to your game.

I never thought that hackers on the island could hurt other players. I would be so mad if I lost my golden tools that I worked so hard to get. Sorry that happened to you. I may not visit CT anymore.

On the rare occasions I visit Club Tortimer I dump my tools at the beach before leaving and change into poor clothes.

Ugh. These hackers are getting ridiculous. It's such a pain in the butt. Hacking, in my opinion, is fine until it directly affects my gameplay. I would be pissed if that happened to me and I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. I enjoy some of the hacking that can be done on the island or hacking in general, but I think I'll just have to steer clear of CT from now on. I haven't really gone that many times since I had my own wacky expierence there, but I haven't heard of anything like this. I feel bad that you lost your golden tools. You worked hard for those things and it's shame people are jerks like that.

They should really moderate Club Tortimer next game. If you do these sort of things that negatively impact someone else's game, your entire system deserves to be banned from ever playing any game online again.

I don't care about hacked dream towns because they cause 0 damage, but this is ridiculous.

Also, the perpetrator's Nintendo Network account will be gone. It will no longer exist.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I hope this doesn't steer any of you away from CT entirely, that's not my intention. I just want everyone to be aware of what these hackers with malicious intents can do (not saying everyone who's a hacker has bad intentions either). I didn't even know that they could hack my patterns and delete my inventory. I don't even know if I can get rid of that stupid rental net they left in my inventory from the island since it was late at night and ReTail was closed. The only reason I go to club tortimer is to look for those CT exclusive items, which rarely even appear anyways. I'll probably just stick with looking for them on the trade boards. It upsets me and I don't understand why people do this to others games :(

Now that I think about it, the first time I visited the island w/Club Tort. I think someone tried to hack me. I saw someone else there, said 'Hi', but they didn't say anything back. They left and I was booted home, w/o the 2 marlin/swordfish whatnot, were rare fish, and some beetles I'd caught for my museum. I had all my tools and such. I've been on CT more often and when someone leaves it just bumps you down to a solo island visit. Definitely gonna watch that now.

all i can really suggest is to empty your pockets before leaving, save your patterns at Able Sisters, and if anything weird happens, wifi error BEFORE it saves.

most people get curious when this kind of weird stuff happens and they let the game save. if you ever randomly get the cutscene of Kapp’n taking you home, or the one you had of the session ending, just error before it completes.

club tortimer is a lot more dangerous now, and you need to be prepared.

What does error-ing mean, and how do you do it? I've never done Club Tortimer, I've only ever visited the island as a solo trip. If I do ever go, I want to know what to do if goes badly haha.

I wish that I knew ahead of time about how dangerous CT was. Never have I thought I would EVER lose anything of mine or lose any of my patterns during my trip there. Problem is I have a 2DS so I don't have the Wi-Fi switch, should unplugging the router should do the same effect as erroring? At least I can be thankful that there is no signs of corruption in my town, and I did get to dispose of the Rental Net.

Erroring is basically flipping the switch on the 3DS (if your game system has one) or disconnecting from the internet to go back to your town without making any changes not saved.

That's actually SO horrible, I am SO sorry that happened to you!
Thankfully I never go on CT so I've never experienced anything bad. But whenever I do, I always use the rental tools anyway and empty my pockets out.

I've never heard of that happening before, I didn't know that was something that hackers could do, but I'm not surprised. Luckily I don't use CT much, I just don't know why someone would ruin someone else's time for some items that aren't really that hard to get, it's sad.

I'm sorry that happened to you, have you managed to get back any of the items you lost?

Thank you so much. :( That's the problem, I had two of my golden tools (slingshot and shovel) in my pockets before going to CT. When I came back, they were all gone.

Thank you so much. I haven't gotten any of the items back, everything in my inventory before going to club tortimer is gone forever. :/

I'm never going to visit CT again after this, if I do it's just for the gift shop and then immediately leaving.

Omg that's horrible! I didn't know ppl could even do that! I'm so sorry that happened to you! Maybe you can store everything in closets, the storage room, and with the able sisters before you go so you can still play without having to worry about ppl stealing like noobs? And maybe wear the stuff that the villagers or Jack "gives" you when they trick you on Halloween, that way you don't have to worry about losing any good clothing, if they can steal what you're wearing too. That would be a good trick on hackers. Because it would be a shame for a hacker to ruin something you had fun doing. But idk how the hacking works, can they take things from your town?

I'll give you patched clothing if you want to try it.

flipping the wi-fi switch on the side of your 3DS. if your model doesn’t have one, press the power button instead.
