When you trade with someone, make sure that you do it at your town and that you sell items via Re-Tail's flea market system (if possible)

Today I was trading with someone that I met via tumblr. I dropped down the item and she started to drop down the bells. I picked up all of her bells and before she had the chance to pick up the item that she came to my town for a 2nd person showed up uninvited. I got the message that somebody was coming to town and then the game started to save. Before the saving finished, I got an error.

Then after the error I notice that my gates are closed and that nobody is there, which is what happens after an error.

I thought that the game would be reverted back to the point before the girl from tumblr showed up. But turns out that I still had all of the bells that she had given me and that the hair-bow wig that she went to my town for was still on the ground! I sent her a message telling her to come back for it and she did so everything was fine.

But... it got me thinking that this really makes it easy for people to scam others... Like if I had wanted to I could have kept her bells and the item. I mean, I wouldn't do something like that because I'm not like that... but I could have done it if I were a scammer. Anyway, planning on doing all of my trades via re-tail now, thought that I should tell you guys about this experience so that you can make sure that this doesn't happen to you.

ah i hope no one does this when I trade because I usually prefer their town over my own. I guess i'll start inviting in more. Thank you for posting this!

Yikes that could have been bad. :( Thanks for the heads-up. I will definitely make use of Re-Tail for my trades in the future, unless its with a known and trusted trading partner.

Hm, this could definitely open up a door to bad trading. Re-tail is definitely your safest bet when trading with bells, I would think. Thanks for the heads up! I'll be on the watch for these kinds of things.
