Walking Leaf Issues

Has anyone else had trouble finding a walking leaf? I need to catch one for my museum, but I haven't seen any as my mayor! Oddly enough, one day when I was plot resetting, they were everywhere - though only with the new character and never with my mayor. Any ideas as to why I can't seem to catch one of these guys?

I've seen 1 a lot when I have a lot of furniture on the ground but every time it would happen i didn't have a net

They are not very common, but they do show up from time to time. Just don't worry about it and you will eventually find one when you are not even looking for it. It is kind of odd that you found a bunch while plot resetting, but there is nothing special about a new character that makes them show up more often.

Yeah, that's how it was for me. Since I only saw them with a new character, I didn't have a net.
