Void clearing doesn't work, apparently. [Ranting]

Excuse me for this thread, but I am so annoyed right now.

I have a town, Brooklyn, where Rhonda finally moved out about a week ago. In that week I've visited at least two towns that had 10 villagers. Last night, I visited my main town, New York, to pick up some items....and today I go onto that town only to find Rhonda has plopped her rhino butt down in that town. How?? She should have been out of my void.

I'm just...I'm angry. I didn't think at all that she would still show up because my void should have been cleared.

What's even weirder is that I had Alli move out of New York, and I never cleared the void for that town out, but she didn't move into Brooklyn. But Rhonda moved into New York. This is like...the opposite of what should happen...

And now that Rhonda is my 10th villager, it'll be nearly impossible to get rid of her without getting rid of a villager I love. Rhonda isn't that bad (there's worse) but I really didn't want her. I wanted to adopt Maple or one of the cranky villagers. I'm just really mad right now, ignore me.


I guess it's lesson learned, I'm not going to trust "clearing my void" anymore.

do you have streetpass on? i'm not 100% sure, but i feel like it may have something to do with that. i ran into pretty much the exact same problem awhile ago when i first learned about clearing your void, and i feel like i read somewhere that it might have to do with picking up voids through streetpass rather than through visiting the town. that's not a guarantee though, just an idea. i'm sorry, tho. the whole issue with voids is so annoying and i hope it's changed in the next game. :s​

No, I've always had streetpass off since day one.

When I "cleared" my void in Brooklyn, I did so with my mayor. When I visited New York, I did so with a secondary character. I don't see why which character I played on would affect it but it's really my only guess. I would have thought my void would have been cleared regardless.


I at least lucked out in the fact that Rhonda put her house in a spot where I had deleted a characters house so she didn't crush anything, but I had plans to landscape that area and put down a pwp and now I can't. Just, ugh. She's not that bad of a villager but I didn't want her in my towns, that's why I let her go in the first place.

I've always been skeptical when people talk about clearing their void. If you have 9 villagers or less, there's a chance someone unwanted will move in. It's just luck when it doesn't happen.

This actually happened with me recently. I visited a town with 10 villagers since I had Coach in my void and was picking Mira up from a friend (who was holding her for me).

She ended up with Coach a couple days later. :/

So yeah, from then on I never void villagers on my main town anymore.

I didn't have much of a choice to void Rhonda though, nobody wanted to adopt her. I didn't have much of a choice, sadly.

I've had a lot of issues with the void. Last summer, I had Charlise move out of my town. After I thought I cleared my void, I've gone to more than 20 towns and had more than 5 villagers move out. My boyfriend starting playing in November and then one day, he got Charlise. I felt awful but thankfully he didn't seem to mind. It's left me really confused. Since then, I've started to doubt clearing voids actually works. ._.

I'm also very skeptical about the void....I do try and be careful just because I'm paranoid anyway, have streetpass off etc.
And I have had a villager before turn up from somebody else's void....but I really think it's random. The other day I tt'd Deirdre out as I wanted Skye....one of my friends wanted Dierdre but as she'd already left my town we thought we would try and send her to that town via the void....turns out it didn't work. She won't be showing up on my main street for a while but my friend didn't get her and she tt'd daily for a week in advance to make sure
Also, I've been and cleared my void before, or so I thought, in a town with 10 villagers. I went to pick up bam and the other person apparently got my voided villager....also leaving me negative feedback telling me I was lying that is cleared it, which wasn't the case but that her issue really. I did my best.
I think it's always a risk doing anything online without 10 villagers, clear void or no
