(not sure if this post goes here, but I can't think of where else it would go..)

I am super new to this update, with all of the amiibo and RVs in the campground that are basically mini stores.. I am so confused at all of the talk about Amiibos and cards and figurines and supposed mini games?? What even? I haven't played since 2013 ish, so I have no clue what this huge update even entails XD

hi! welcome back to the game! since you're new to the update, i'll just give you a biiig overview of what's new

so for rvs (which i agree, are really cool!), each day, in your campground, you will get a special npc rv. only certain npcs appear without amiibo figure usage, such as blanca, pascal, joan, zipper t. bunny, gulliver, jingle, and saharah (there maaay be 1 or 2 more npcs i'm forgetting hehe). these npcs will cycle through your campsite, so after a few weeks of checking it, you're sure to have met all of them! :) like i said before, these npcs appear without amiibo usage- meaning all other rvs you'll see in your park will only appear if you scan in either a welcome amiibo villager card, animal crossing amiibo figures, a couple non-ac amiibos (cece, felyne, ganon, viche, epona, inkwell, medli, wisp, and wolf link), or sanrio amiibo cards. these have to be bought irl, and can only be scanned in if you have a new ds or an nfc reader (which you can find on amazon). these special scan-ins will bring their rv to your park, and you can visit it and have visitors visit it (this is why, here on the forum, people often buy rv visits! that means that whoever has the amiibo figure / card scans it in and allows the buyer to visit their campsite to buy c00l $tuff. also, people can buy welcome amiibo items without having to visit the rv itself- people here also sell just the rv items for tbt or igb)! so essentially, unless you want to visit a special rv, you'll eventually get to see all the non-amiibo npc rvs in your campground eventually :') my personal favorite is joan's rv, if you've seen it yet! (if you haven't, wait just a couple days- it'll appear because she's a no-amiibo-required rv npc hehe)

you also mentioned mini games! some rvs can sell you a new nintendo 3ds or a wii u for your character (you can also get them from fortune cookies)- it's a tiny furniture item! when you put these in your house and select them, you can play a minigame called Puzzle League on the 3ds and you can play a minigame called Desert Island Escape on the wii u.

hope that helped just a bit! :) if you have any more questions or if something i said was confusing (sorry sorry it's 1 am here oops), feel free to shoot me a vm!!

Further to what 5cm/s said above, you can only buy a maximum of 3 items per character a day from the entire campground, and items can only be purchased with special currency, called Meowcoupons. A purchase from a RV in your campground costs 3 coupons, but a purchase from someone else's campground costs 5. Meowcoupons can be earnt with daily and weekly tasks.

Okay! Are we able to complete tasks in other people's towns to gain meow coupons? Or are we only allowed to complete the ones assigned in our town? Thank you for helping to clarify!!
Was that about all for the update to the game?

you have initiatives to complete to earn meow coupons! they are in the same tab as your tpc :) you get two new ones every day (the top two initiatives), and you have the entire week to complete the bottom two. when you go to another town, your initiatives don't change- they're still your initiatives of the day / week, so you can only complete the ones assigned to your town. the meow coupons you earn can be used both in your town and in other towns!

i think that's it for the update- basically, just amiibo, meow coupons, and unorderable welcome amiibo items :)

The only other thing about the update is the ability to invite villagers to move in. With the RVs from Welcome Amiibo cards or compatible non-Animal Crossing amiibo figures, you can talk to the villager in their RV and ask them to move into your town to live. You can also scan any of the Animal Crossing amiibo cards that were designed for Animal Crossing Festival / Happy Homes Designer, and ask that villager to move in.

You can still more in a new villager from scanning a card even if you already have 10 villagers. When you ask a villager to move in, they'll comment that your town is already full and will ask your permission to move someone else out. You'll then be asked who you want to be moved out.

Also, when a villager moves into your town for whatever reason, they won't place their house onto a space with a custom design on the ground. So you'll no longer need to redesign your paths when a new villager moves in. And you can also use this to your advantage by littering your town with random designs, forcing a villager to move into an empty 3x3 space.
