Villagers you thought you'd hate but dont

Cheri the peppy cub! I didn't necessarily think I'd hate her, but I thought she'd get annoying pretty quickly, and I only invited her from the mystery island to fill up my island initially. But her personality is just so sweet and adorable that she's definitely one of my permanent villagers now! Plus she absolutely BOPS to K.K. Disco haha, love her to death <3

I really thought I wouldn't like Frobert because jock villagers are my least favorite, but he grew on me so fast. He's so cute and so confident in his strength despite his tiny size!

I’ve never really been a fan of the mice villagers, idk why, but Dora came as a random move in and I thought she was super, well, adorable!

I also didn’t think I would like Doc, but once I really saw him after finding out he’s my birthday twin, I really liked him more. His New Horizons model is way cuter with the glasses being changed! (So they aren’t white and look like part of his eyes)

Hazel... her unibrow use to be really off putting but I had her as one of original villagers in one of my New Leaf towns and honestly she really grew on me. I really can't imagine her without her unibrow and I was sad when my boyfriend mentioned seeing her on a mystery island but passing her up because of her appearance

I was island hopping for a cranky (not gonna lie, mostly Chief or Fang) and on one of my last few tickets I bumped into Roscoe! It was storming really hard on my island and the NM Island so all I saw was glowing red eyes but I talked to him and heard he was a cranky. My search was pretty fruitless beforehand so I decided to take the "demon horse" as I called him and also because I wanted some variety to all the cute villagers on my island.

Now I love Roscoe, he's never going to leave.

sterling! he was one of my OG villagers, and i didn't like his design or the fact that he's a jock, but boy i adore him now he's one of my all-time favorites

Hazel actually. I saw a bunch of people over time saying that she's a menace, but I started with her in this game and I actually turned out really liking her. I did eventually let her go though, she wanted to spread her wings and see where life would take her, and who was I to stand in her way?

hugh! he was one of my three move-in's, and when i saw that he was a pig villager, i was disappointed. until NH, i haven't really liked any of the pig villagers, because they're not really cute, but hugh changed my mind! i really enjoy having him in my town, and although he may not be a permanent resident, i have a soft spot for him now

Hippeux was the smug villager that first visited my campsite and I immediately began plotting his departure. It only took a couple of days but now that he's gone, I'm kinda missing him. I thought it was kinda hilarious to think of him as like the village villain/drama king and I'm missing that dynamic now

I didn't really like Cherry and Tybalt at first, but they were my starters in new horizons and they really grew on me. I saw they singing together in front of resident services, they have great voices! I have to move them out because I really want to meet some other villagers, but when they do want to move, I hope they find a nice home.

I also didn't pay attention to Filbert as much at first, but he's a pretty cool guy!

I let Marshall move in because I was playing to auction/trade him off, but now he's one of my favorites! plus, he's the only villager that sings :,O

I also really grew to love Nate. he's my current fave.

Huck the smug frog. He was my forced move-in and I was unhappy with it, but within a few days I absolutely loved him. He was the first to ask to move and I said no.

Al is starting to grow on me. I won't say he's adorable, because he isn't, but he's actually really nice and keeps losing his things. If he asks to move I'll let him go, but he's not as bad as I thought he'd be.

In this game:

Agnes, one of my starters, I'm not the biggest fan of the pig villagers, but she's pretty cute. I'll still let her leave if she asked (after her birthday on 4/21 though) because her house is stuck as the basic one since she's a starter.

Gloria, I found her after 15 tickets on my hunt for a snooty. First snooty I found so I took her even though she wasn't my favorite. I really love her name as a St. Louis Blues fan. I'll probably let her leave if she asks though because I have a snooty I like better (Vivian)

Deli, my first lazy! Also not a big fan of the monkeys, but he is so cute, and I love the lazy personality in this game, so funny. However, he does have the basic lazy house, so I'll let him leave when he asks, also I have another lazy I like better, Bones.

I'm just excited to see and try a lot of villagers, so that's why I'm not too picky on who I invite or let leave.

Tipper. I'm usually annoyed when I get villagers like this but she's been nicer than Diana to me.

When Broffina moved in I was like and wanted to move her out immediately but I really don't mind her at all now

Coco! I used to have her in all my towns during my childhood at some point and thought she was creepy to the bone, now that I've grown older I actually was kind of disappointed she didn't move to my island on her own - buuut I fixed that. She's quite sweet, actually! ;v;

I've made a thread about sometime ago, here is a snippet of what I had to say

"Al was 1 of the 3 villagers I had to build a home for. When I first read his name, and seen he wanted a hay bed outside his house, I was angry and thought he was going to be another pig. (I already have 3 pigs. Agnes, Gala, and Truffles)

I never visited Al or knew who he was util some days later I was asked by another villager to bring him an item....I was going to kick him out to bring in someone from my top 10 list, but now I'm thinking he'll stay. "

I was forced to move in raymond via the campsite and I thought I'd hate him bc hes so hyped up and I usually go against the grain, but he actually is super cute, especially his little fangs lol

Raymond was my first camper too. I was really excited to get a chance to meet him, but then in the first couple of days I was starting to think he might not be for me. After a few more days he started growing on me a lot and now I love him. When you leave his house and he does that little wave with his fangs showing...adorable!
