Villagers you thought you'd hate but dont

I got a new villager last week that I immediately thought I'd hate and want to get rid of ASAP, but then I started talking with her and now I'm obsessed. I have Maelle the duck, who looks and speaks like Edna Mode and I find her hilarious.

What villagers that you thought youd despise suddenly became one of your favorites?

Jambette :') She's so sweet and the only one out of my current set of villagers that I actually like.

I've never been a fan of the anteater villagers -- not that I dislike them, a lot of their designs are fine -- its just they feel out of place for me. But Anabelle's sort of grown on me. The Peppy personality is pretty out there in New Horizons, and its kinda silly seeing an anteater be so out there.

Maelle was a starting villager in my NL town! She's so underrated!

I had Velma for a bit in NH and I honestly liked her a lot! I only let her move so I could have an empty spot to bring Ribbot in via Amiibo

I was forced to move in raymond via the campsite and I thought I'd hate him bc hes so hyped up and I usually go against the grain, but he actually is super cute, especially his little fangs lol

I would have to say, Sprocket. I didn't necessarily hate him I just had my sights on other jock types (genji, snake, drift).

I absolutely love him! He is so unique and we have bonded more than I thought. I normally get along with jocks, so it's not surprising but there is just something about him that gives me the feels! He is not going anywhere!

I love when you find villagers that aren't normally your type and they turn out to be a winner!

Im gonna get hated on for this but I didn't like stitches at first. His colour scheme was definitely not my style and the aesthetic kinda creeped me out, but now i find him absolutely adorable!

Lionel! He was one of the villagers I was forced to have earlier in game and didn’t like him at first but I started liking him later on.

Today he asked to move and I let him because I wanted to see what other villagers are out there. I’m going to miss him so much ;-;

Klaus :v i thought he was a lil ugly and gross, but he's actually really nice, and him and ursala (also in my island) look so cute together QuQ

Always thought I'd never care for Gayle but I actually really like her now. She's so cute and such a sweetie

I actually literally used to despise Zucker back in New Leaf because I thought he was gross looking and didn't understand how something so gross could be so loved. (Super childish, I know). When New Horizons came out though I encountered him and the new graphics actually made him not look so bad, not like before, and I do have a soft spot for octopi and squid... After a few interactions with the revamped graphics and Lazy personality though, I'm smitten with the little octopus ball. I will never grow tired of his happy little face and the greeting "Hi! It's me, Zucker!". WHY IS HE SO CUTE COMPARED TO BEFORE??? I've changed over the years. Only explanation. He is my son now. Oddly enough the other Lazy in my town, Bones does not show me as many childish or lazy interactions like Zucker though, and it actually makes all of my villagers feel special.

I really didn't think I was going to like Cheri but she's kinda grown on me
However I have Cookie so I'm going to make Cheri move anyway, I don't think I can handle two wanna-be popstars

I thought he was kind of ugly and I expected to not keep him long, but he's now my favorite of two cranky villages, and he's got a pretty cool house!

pierce! i've never really cared ab the jocks and planned to let my starters go whenever they asked to leave, but ended up rly liking his design and personality!

Honestly, when Katt moved into my NL town I thought I'd hate her from her appearance, but she grew on me so quickly. When she asked to leave I actually really wanted to keep her but she moved right in front of my house so I ended up saying yes. TT ^ TT She'll always have a special spot in my heart.

I didn't think I would like Sherb, he look so plain, but he's been really sweet, I adore him now

Bubbles! I don't really like the hippo villagers, and I was never a big fan of peppy villagers in New Leaf, so I wasn't happy when she first moved in. But even though I pretty much ignored her, she kept giving me all sorts of presents and sending me letters and just generally being super nice, so she grew on me. Now I give her all sorts of cute clothes, and she even ended up being the first villager I got a picture from.
