Tasty Cake
it’s that time again now that dream suite is back lol. in new leaf for me it was marshal, fauna, that guy version of fauna, stitches, diana & the chrissy/francine combo (pretty popular amongst the pastel towns).

i feel like now it’s raymond, sherb, zucker & surprisingly, dobie (king deserves)... seriously 3 out of 5 islands i’m visiting i keep seeing them in rotation!

Raymond and Marina. They’re everywhere. Marshal is still pretty popular too but I’m not complaining coz he’s my boy.

Marshall, Raymond, Zucker, Marina, and Sherb... seriously the amount of times I bloody see Raymond and Marshall make me NEVER want to have either of them!

I’ve been seeing Audie quite a bit. As well as Aurora. Aurora is also on my island so I think that’s why I notice her. She’s adorbs!

Raymond for sure! At least half of the islands I’ve been to have him. Dobie, Coco and Lucky are villagers I’ve also seen a lot!

I've haven't visited that many islands yet but I don't think it's surprising you see a lot of the popular villagers a lot. I mean, they are popular for a reason. Sherb and Judy are everywhere! Marina too! Because I knew about the popularity rankings, I already didn't like Sherb and Judy and these dream islands haven't changed my mine about them at all. Also the octopus villagers, doesn't matter which one but most islands seem to have at least one.

Every single tier 1 villager of course. People just don’t have any taste for unpopular villagers do they?

Every popular villager.

No joke I have been to like 5 islands so far and all of them either had Raymond or Audie.

Though, I appreciated when one of the islands had my girl Hazel. 😌 👌

No idea. Personally, I like villagers for their design, personality and time I spend with them; I don’t care if the villagers I like are popular or not (I don’t even know which ones are aside from Raymond tbh). I admit that I am very picky though I’m trying harder to be more open minded and give more villagers a chance. I like Rudy, Puddles, Gaston, Kiki, Punchy, Ankha, Marshal, Roscoe, Sherb, Raymond, Lolly.

I haven’t visited enough, but will post here again once I do with my findings.

Design is the only thing separating villagers of the same personality type (though now there are 2 subtypes for each personality, but it only affects a small portion of dialogue when you reach high friendship), so it makes sense that the villagers with unique or interesting designs tend to be more popular. Certain species also tend to be more popular than others, especially the cats and wolves, so that also plays into popularity. Raymond was basically created to be super popular, so it's no surprise that he's ubiquitous (even I have him on my island, despite thinking he was ugly when NH first dropped).

Just from the ones you listed, Punchy, Ankha, Marshal, Sherb, Raymond, and Lolly are all mega popular and I'm sure they will be common sights when visiting Dream Suites. Even Roscoe has his own cult following. It goes without saying, but popular villagers are popular for a reason. Of course everyone has their own personal taste, but it should be no surprise when people gravitate towards these villagers. Most people probably wouldn't choose Limberg over a more popular cranky like one of the wolves/Apollo/whoever else. I get that everyone wants to feel unique and stand out, but I also don't like when I see people shame others for having a town full of popular villagers (not that you're doing this ofc; I just mean in general). My opinion on the matter is to just let people do their own thing because it doesn't affect anyone else. As long as it makes them happy, then who cares what someone does with their own island? They paid $60 to play the game however they want.

Sorry for the wall of text lol.

Regardless of island theme, the spectacled cat will always be looming somewhere.

No need to apologize! :) I enjoy hearing people’s thoughts no matter how long or short. Thanks for the explanation. I had no clue how popular cats were though I did notice that there are plenty of members on the forums that like a lot of them and I haven’t read too much about what draws people to certain villagers.

While I don’t care if my villagers are popular or not, if people want to have a town of all of them, there’s nothing wrong with that. I was just speaking of my own preferences; sorry everyone if it came out obnoxious or disrespectful. I think I can understand too why others would like to see less popular villagers in more towns. Also, variety is nice to see especially if you have the villagers that you see in everyone’s town but want to meet some different ones without having to invite them.
