Villagers who cant be starters?

I remember a while ago that there was a thread about villagers who cant be starters. I was just wondering is it really true that some villagers cant be starters? if so is there a list?

I'm pretty sure you can't have a smug villager as a starter.

Yeah, smug villagers. I'm not sure about Uchi. I've never heard that you can't but I've never seen someone with one as a starter.


Also, you supposedly cannot have an Octopus (Marina, Octavian, Zucker) as a starter

You can have Uchi, I had Frita as a starter.

That's strange. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to have a certain type of villager as a stater. Seems like a pointless thing to program into the game.

You can't get uchi or smug villagers in your starting five. I'm not sure about the octopi though.

The octopuses were impossible to have as starters in previous games, which is why people assume they are in NL as well until proven otherwise I think.

if your town tree is big enough, you should be able to sit on it's brick wall and a summery of your town's history will play by. there you can see who you started off with c:
