I thought the new amiibo update was supposed to prevent new villagers from moving in ontop of your patterns, flowers, trees, ect. I left spots open specifically for new villagers and I left more than enough room. Like 90% percent of the time they still move it on top of my stuff.

villagers can move ontop of flowers, trees and bushes. they can't move on top of patterns, unless there is not ample room for another plot.

this is true. also, i heard that they will move onto patterns if there's absolutely nowhere else to put their house but i'm not sure about that.

I actually had this problem as well. It happened a few days ago... I had an idea of where I wanted to put a villager, but they ended up in an area where I laid out some items. I made sure there was plenty of space for the new villager to move in. :/ Now I am focusing on moving them out.

This happened to me, too! Luckily it wasn't that bad of a spot but still. I saw one person say on some thread a while ago that there are some spots in your town that villagers won't move at. Maybe like there's dead spots where you can't grow trees there's spots where villagers won't move?

Your town is divided into acres, and an acre can become too crowded by buildings. As such, even if you leave ample room for a villager path-wise, if that acre is considered full, a villager will ignore that space and move to a randomized location that can ignore your paths entirely.

It's something like 3 buildings per acre.
