Villagers may have "preferred" place to plot onto?

Although it still might be a coincidence, it still might have some truth, which would be awesome.

For me, my villagers have seemed to move into 3 general spots.

1. Next to my house in a little area. So far, I think I've had 5 villagers move there.

2. At the bottom right side of my town. Here, I've had, again, 3-5 or so villagers.

And finallly, 3. The bottom left side of my town. I think I've had a total of 7 or 8 Villagers move here, which would add up to 18, which seems about right.

This game really needs to give a town's Mayor zoning control. Option spaces for houses. Establish this right from the beginning of the game.

I could envision the next "Animal Crossing" starting with the arrival of the Mayor. He/she would be greeted by Isabelle and not three villagers; he/she would be greeted by Isabelle along with the town employees—the Nooks, the Able Sisters, Postal employees Pete, Pelly, and Phyllis, as well as Blathers. Then Isabelle takes you, as the new town's Mayor, to the Town Hall to go over a few things: 1) You would select two villagers from the entire cast of "Animal Crossing"—that would be one of each gender—to send an invitation (via Isabelle) for that animal character to move to your new and exciting town. 2) You work with Isabelle to establish zoning options that would determine specified areas for housing.

If the next game of "Animal Crossing" would also allow for up to ten villagers—plus four humans—residing at any time, then you would get up to 16 lots from which to select. (Two left over to play it safe.) Outside of residential areas being zoned, a town's Mayor will have less stress and more choices in where to locate bridges, to set town pathways, and to build Public Works Projects.

when boomer (my 10th villager) moves out, there will be only one area where a new villager can move in, a space of 3 (deep) x 10 (wide)! thanks to clever pwp placing ;~)
jeremiah moved in exactly in between my only two ponds, frogs like ponds? this is probably mere coincidence though.

It seems more people has a similar experience than not. Still could be a coincidence. The "hotspot" thing might have some truth to it though. Villagers love moving next to my mayor's house. I've had two villagers randomly move there so far (Chops, Ankha). And whenever I reset almost all villagers try to place themselves there. I had to put a PWP there to stop that madness. 8U

Tell me more. o wo

Or I can just visit your dream address. Yeah, I'll do that.

Because of my PWPs (I think, anyways), there are about 3 plots where my villagers move into, consistently. I don't ever bother filling in those spots with flowers/trees/anything because I figure usually that plot space will be filled.

I mean, they literally move into the *exact* same spot.

But like I said, I have lots of PWPs, and I have expanded all 4 characters homes to full size, so there isn't much room for them to go anywhere else. The few spots where there *might have* been space, there's a rock blocking them.

O hare just moved into my town and I messed up the plot reset trick so it was his first choice and it was right next to a river

Yes, the place where Lionel lived. 3 villagers moved there and I didn't even have to plot reset, so I think that's one of the spots villagers like xD

Update! I'm plot resetting Marshal now, and he's plotting onto a spot that none of my villagers have tried to plot onto before. o_o 4 (edit: 7) times now. I actually thought I may have messed up the plot reset trick because the first two times he was on the very same spot.

So we have two separate main theories on this:
  • all new villagers have certain "hotspots"
  • certain villagers like certain spots (the one I started with)

Other theories:
  • it's all random (semi-proven)
  • it's based on personality
  • it's based on your map

Proven theories:
  • it's based on your PWP placing

Perhaps this new spot he's chosen is due to the fact that most of the "hotspots" have been taken? I forgot to mention it, but I don't have a lot of PWPs. I only have 6 (excluding bridges), 3 of them shown on my map in the first post (Brewster, campsite and Police Station), and the other 3 being a Metal Bench, a Water Pump next to my mayor's house, and a lighthouse at the bottom corner of the map.

Supports the "hotspot" theory. O:

dream address is not up to date though! but feel free to visit hehe...
well, i draw out my town map to calculate where to place my pwps: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?144797-Share-your-on-grid-paper-drawn-town-map!

I visited, and that is some clever PWP placing. I'd build all those PWPs myself but I'm kinda broke, haha. xDD; Good reference though. o__o

I dunno if I can do the grid thing though. xD

You have O'Hare in your town and that makes you a cool kid. Supports that he likes bodies of water though. xD
