Villagers changing shirts

Does anyone know if a villager will immediately change their shirt after buying one from Retail?

I'm very bad at making pro designs and got the idea to just put a few cute shirts for sale in Retail in hopes of villagers buying them and putting them on. Is it a waste of time?

I suppose it's the same as when you deliver them a parcel with a shirt in, sometimes they'll try it on and ask your opinion and other times they'll put it in their pockets. Just hover around in retail until somebody pings to buy one, it's just as likely that they will end up having the shirt on display in their house though

They do wear shirts from Able Sisters, I try to keep my villagers wearing my different seasonal designs throughout the year (except Mira, she must wear red zap suit).

I agree they may display them in their homes rather than wear them but I'm not sure what the odds are. The way I make sure Mira wears her shirt is to send her a few copies of it by mail.

Hmm, I never tried seling shirts in Retail. It sounds like a good idea. It would be better than villagers sticking random ugly furniture in their houses.

They wear the shirts, but not the dresses. Which is kind of annoying since I make a lot of dress patterns for long cloaks. At one point like half of my villagers were wearing my Team Magma shirt pattern because it was the only shirt pattern I was displaying. lol

Depends, they might but it's more likely they'll put it into their house.

tbh i dont care if they are original... as long as its the villager i know and love i will pamper them to death
