Villager wearing clothes I never gave them

Hamphrey is walking around his house with the instant muscles shirt on. I never gave him that and it looks... not great. Lol
I did give Bam one of those weeks ago. I heard that clothing you give other villagers can sometimes end up in other villagers’ storage, but he’s actually wearing it. Is it a glitch or working as intended?

I don't have an answer for your question but just wanted to say that I love your hamster villager in the muscle suit. I have 3 of my villagers that wear them every once in awhile, but I gave them the suits.

I don't think they can gift each other. If you got him from another island, it can just be clothes already in his closet. I'm not 100% though.

idk if this is known but sometimes when they get you to deliver stuff to another villager, (bc the mail system on the island sucks apparently) if the item is an article of clothing, the recipient could end up wearing that item (happened to a couple of my villagers). sometimes they'll ask you if you wanna guess what's in the package and what i do is i try to guess clothing in case it does end up being a clothing item so it won't end up in their inventory.

there have also been times where they won't ask and just try the clothing on then ask you if you think it suits them or not. if you say yes, they'll keep it on and eventually add it to their clothing rotation. if you say no, they'll just put it in their pockets lol.

My villagers seem to wear clothing that I didn't give them either and I got them all from island hopping. And yes, I did not do any quests where I delivered clothes to them from another villager lol. They just seem to have their own preset clothes that they can change into sometimes (and I am not talking about their yoga or workout clothes lol).

Haha he looks hilarious! This is why i open the packages to check what is inside before i deliver them to my villagers. I close the game before it saves my opening them, of course. I know it seems kinda silly to go through all that but i dont want them to end up with random clothes and furniture. Anyway, you can still get rid of clothes by giving them more, i read they can store up to 24 and they probably start getting rid of some after reaching that limit. The glitch you mentioned does happen but they never end up wearing these clothe, they only show up in their wardrobe as far as i know.

You know, this could be it. I think I did deliver something to him from Rosie not too long ago. An apology gift of sorts after they got into a fight. I remember thinking it was weird that I didn’t get to see what it was. He just put it in his pockets! I bet that’s where he got it. Thank you!

24? Really? I would never have guessed it was that high. What happens if I give him the same item over and over? Do you know if each time I give him the item whether that counts or does it consolidate or something because it’s a duplicate? I’m just thinking about flooding his closet with several of the same item/s.

Also, that’s a good idea to open the gifts and then close the game. I will be doing that from now on!
