Villager Trading Question?

Hello, I'm new to this whole villager-trading thing and have come across a little dilemma. You see, I offered someone Fauna for Rosie, and they accepted. We then kept in touch as we waited for them to ping. Fauna pinged me today, so I PM'd the person with Rosie and told them I'd be ready to trade when they were (they haven't responded to that PM, BTW). Okay, here's the issue: I found a thread giving Rosie away for free via a raffle, so I decided to test my luck and enter. After all, I never win these things. Much to my surprise however, I won! But now I don't know how to approach the person who wanted Fauna. They also offered Mint for Fauna before (who is another one of my dream villagers), so I'd like to tell them I'd prefer Mint for her now. But I don't want to be rude and have no clue as to what to say. Is it considered rude to ask for Mint instead..?

I don't think that it would be rude to ask for a different villager instead, they already offered the trade previously so it seems like 6 one half dozen the other to me.

Explain that you got Rosie - I'm sure the person will have no problem in finding someone who'd want her. I'm sure she'd be happy to trade Mint.

Give her Fauna for free because it would be rude to cancel a trade and then ask for another villager. And you have Rosie anyways.

I think the only time this would be appropriate is if the person already got Rosie into boxes. The person who wants Fauna hadn't even responded to her PM to confirm the trade, so it's not like that person should be expecting to get Fauna. Even if they had responded and hadn't gotten Rosie into boxes yet, I think asking for a different villager would still be okay.
