Villager over lap? ( Problem! Help!)

Hi everyone I need some help, here's the situation: I have got two villagers Tom & Sprinkle both are dreamies, I went to two peoples towns on the same day and asked them to move in, I asked Tom first then Sprinkle second, Sprinkle is the only one who has shown up and who I plot resetted for without knowing, I thought it was Tom...
My question is: Will Tom move in?

Its just as I thought. ;o;

Try time traveling to the day Sprinkle is completely moved in (no longer in boxes, and wandering around town), and then see if Tom moves in after that? I've actually never seen this happen before, so it might just be that you have to wait an extra day.
