So, I have a question. Ankha told me a rumor today that Rosie was thinking about moving out and that I needed to talk to her ASAP. I've had this situation before, that's not the problem. The problem is today is Rosie's birthday. So she's inside. All day. She won't be outside to ping and be shot down. My question is will she be in boxes tomorrow or are rumors valid for a couple of days? So in other words will she be okay tomorrow so I can get her to ping about it? I talk to her everyday and pass her a lot and she didn't ping yesterday. I just don't want to lose her because I've already lost one of my cat villagers (Lolly) because she never pinged for me and no one ever told me she was thinking of leaving. I really don't want to lose Rosie. :(

Once rumours start that villager will be in boxes 5 days later, unless you stop them in those 5 days.

Rumours can start on event days, or birthdays, but that villager won't ping you due to the event. She'll probably ping you tomorrow unless you didn't play for 4 days while she has been thinking of moving, than she'll be in boxes.

Okay thank you! I was so worried because I lost Lolly this week/last week because she just never pinged for me and then was in boxes. I didn't want to lose another cute kitty! I'll make sure to stop her tomorrow!

yeah, J087 basically covered it

also villagers will always tell you about a rumor of someone moving if someone is planning to at some point in their convos from my experience, so I've found spam-talking villagers can be a good method to see if anyone's moving if you're worried about that

Yeah, it's just made me paranoid losing Lolly. I lost Mira before too but she just flat out moved and sent me a letter and was just gone. At least with Lolly I gave her to someone who wanted her. I try and talk to everyone every day and walk around trying to get pings. I just don't understand why a villager that's been in my town for months (*cough cough Yuka) won't leave, but Rosie has only been in my town for a little over a month and she's trying to leave. :P Villagers make no sense sometimes. Thanks for the info, I can stop panicking. :)

Unless you have been somehow missing her moving ping since the past 3 days, you should be fine.
The same thing happened to me with Wolfgang on Jingle Day and I couldn't do anything because he wouldn't ping me. So I just waited until the next day and all was good. :)

Pay attention to other villagers now that you have a move-out sequence happening. If you say no to someone, in 2-5 days someone else will start to think about leaving. Log-in multiple times a day to make sure you talked multiple times to all villagers inside your town. That way you can keep blocking their plans until you decide that someone can move.

I discovered that, sometimes, they will not mention moving to my mayor but they will ping at my second character. I don't know the reason for this. Perhaps it's because someone else pinged me with with a request? If you have multiple characters talk with them to villagers.

villagers try to move if they become your friends

villagers stay if you torture them

I think Nintendo execs were all laughing with each other when they decided the "rules" for villager moving

Haha this is hilarious! We torture villagers, Nintendo have their ways on torturing us back.

Haha, I talk to Yuka all the time and she pings for me for PWP, but she won't leave >< It's like they know and stay out of spite. :P But thank you all so much! I'll definitely be keeping a closer eye on everyone.

I'm sure it's too late, but in the future, you can end a birthday party by having someone into your town. Just opening the gate may have the same effect, but I'm not sure. Having someone in resets their house to normal and they should be able to leave their house at that point.
