Villager moving date confusion

All righty so my friend really loves Bunnie, and I happened to have her in my village. So I told her I would trade her to my friend's village. I told her I would gift Bunnie to her and that's all grand and well, but Bunnie's move-out date that she told me is tomorrow, the 8th of February, and she isn't in boxes. She's walking around the village and pinging me constantly.

Do I have it wrong? Because (I don't know if I remember this correctly...) I thought I'd had a villager earlier this year in boxes the day before he said he was leaving. Is this a dumb question, am I remembering this wrong...?

Bunnie keeps pinging me more often than normal, but I never answer because I'm afraid she'll tell me she actually wants to stay. I want to gift her to my friend and have her come over when she is in boxes. I looked for this in the question thread but I couldn't find it there or anywhere I looked online :/

Bunnie will be in boxes on the 8th. Whenever a villager gives you a move out date they will always be inside their house with boxes packed on that day.
