Villager moved out, moved back in, and remembers me?

I had a villager living in my town in 2013 named Victoria. She moved out, but the weird thing is 16 people haven't moved out since. At least, I don't think so. If 16 people moved out, Victoria shouldn't be able to remember me. She moved into my boyfriend's town and recently moved out -- back into my town. I think I may have picked up his void...? Who knows!

I was under the impression that this was impossible, though. I thought you had to have 16 moveouts between the same villager coming back, and that when they return, they won't remember you. So I'm kind of confused? What happened? I didn't ask her to come back, but I chatted with her a bit in my boyfriend's town. She also took 3 ingame days to move in after she placed her plot. She just showed up in boxes this morning, but the rope marking off her house was there for 2+ days.

Has anything weird like this happened to you with villagers? Does anyone know what happened here?

Yeah, it's so weird. I got her from a friend's town's void, then she went to my boyfriend's, and now back to mine. Maybe she DOESN'T remember me, but remembers me when I talked to her in my boyfriend's? But it's just so weird...

well go talk to her to see if she does remember you... if she remembers you from your boyfriend's town then she came back to your town she obviously might remember you

When I talked to her, she recognized me, but I might have to wait until tomorrow when she's out of boxes to confirm.

Villagers remember you even after cycling if they're the exact same villager.

This method might be nice for those who want to imitate the feeling that the villager didn't forget about them.

Yes. Cyrano left my first town and moved to Pripyat. The mayor of my first town visited Pripyat and talked to Cyrano. Of course he still remembered her. And he would talk to Belle about "his old town" (the first town). Later on, I voided him from Pripyat and he moved back to the original town. From then on, he'd mention "his old town," which was now Pripyat. I've since restarted that first town and I haven't seen Cyrano since. I don't know how many villagers were cycled because I don't keep track of those things. I keep the villagers I want and I've never lost anyone on accident.

Alright, looked over my letters and it's been more than 16 since she last moved out. I hadn't realized how many people left my town lol

Yep that's happened to me! How cool is it? Although line was purely by accident....my son got my voided villager and I accidently got them back while I was cycling to make room for dreamies.
I've also come across one of my old villagers in somebody else's town, they didn't get them from my void or anything, and they spoke like they knew me? Thought that was seriously strange
