Villager leaving on Festival!

Chief told me he was leaving the town on the 3rd (so should be in boxes today) but since it's Festival he's not in boxes! but won't he be just GONE tomorrow?! and what can one do when this happens? nobody can take him now D: he'll be voided I didn't want that ><

Keep talking to him, if he's not in boxes maybe he's not ready to leave. Someone just moved in todayin my town , so i'm guessing he's fine, he won't leave tomorrow.

but he told me he would move on the 3rd that's why I'm saying that. someone tried to come pick him up and talked to him but said it didn't work :/
I'll see tomorrow what happens.

Well, I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I remember someone said that if a villager planned to move, and it was on their birth date, that they push their moving date back a day instead so they could celebrate their birthday...

Maybe that's the case here?
