So, I do have a thing with villagers being original as the best as they can. But thing is, I?m always afraid that villagers will interact with another villager. The reason is because they may change their catchphrase and (The reason why I made this thread) their clothing. I?m always making sure that I don?t stay outside for more than five minutes due to this. I also ditched the wet suit trick because they are guaranteed a villager interaction. Also, when I?m going to the island, I make sure to go there as fast as I can. But when I stay in my town for long and forgot about it/I get sent back home at someone?s town without knowing, I turn off my game and turn it back on. (I don?t even have the reset center due to this) Not only that, when I invite someone in my town I stay inside the train station until the person arrives.

Does anyone else have a problem with this? Or is it just me.

I know a lot of players try to keep the houses original (because villagers don't need 3 loaches and a moldy shirt) , but I've never seen anyone go to the extremes of villager preserving like you do, that's what I call being determined. ;}

I think I would rob myself of a lot of fun with my town if I strove to have everything original, I like my villagers having 'friendships' and talking to my villagers. it's like buying an expensive thing but never doing anything with it lest you scuff it or something, "we want to keep it nice" so no one ends up enjoying it. I mean, what's the point in having something if you aren't using it and enjoying it?
(raise your hand if your granny had plastic covered furniture circa 1972 that was in mint condition if someone dared to lift the plastic)

i only care about their houses, catchphrases are by far the easiest to change back and clothes are also easily changed so i wouldn't worry personally.

Well, yes. But the fact that villagers can put clothing in their homes, and some clothing that are hard to get. I find that quite tedious and annoying, or whatever is the word i'm looking for.

I totally get why people like having their villagers be original but personally I love it when they suggest their own catchphrases and wear different outfits and decorate! It makes the game feel more ?real world? in a way and I like having villagers that feel somewhat unique to my town. The only thing I hate is when they adopt catchphrases that other villagers had/I chose for other villagers that don?t suit their personalities/species at all... having my peppy girls call me bro feels somewhat strange lmao

I don't personally stress over keeping my villagers original. In fact, I have gone out of my way to purposely change some of their furniture, clothing, and catchphrases to things I liked better. But I'm open to letting them make updates as long as it doesn't look totally awful or strange.

I can imagine it would be very stressful trying to play and still keep them original. I've heard that they won't have any interactions when the gates are open. I can't confirm that, but I know I've never seen them talk to each other while my gates were open. They even have a different dialog set when talking to your characters. Maybe you could try that and if it works, you would feel like you could play more freely?

For clothes, I will purposely RUN, not walk, to their conversation, because I just know Flurry is gonna recommend her god ugly shirt to Whitney, who just looks so Frickin good in that silk bloom tee (true story).

For catchphrases, I don't mud if the spread them, it's all just herbs and stuff that fits the town Theme anyway. Less work for me haha. Their houses thou, I will decorate, so it's hardly an original house when I'm done with it. To me it looks better (Flurry) but some houses actually do like fine the way they are. Very few thou. For me, keeping them original in every way is boring. I like to customize them.

I use to care about them being original, but now it doesn't bother me as much. Unless ugly shirt plague takes over.

I made sure to remove the default designs from the shop so that nobody would do that ever again.
Those shirts were horrendous.

Honestly I'm the same - I mean, apart from the level of determination you have! I really want all my villagers to stay as original as possible, since I don't like when they decide to change their shirts to one of the default designs from Able Sisters :( I also really like their houses staying the same, but considering how much I play, its pretty much certain that it's going to happen.

I like being on here because i get to know how other people play differently? It's really cool how much effort you put into doing what makes you happy! I personally don't play in my town the way that you do but i do see the appeal in keeping characters the same as when you met them?

At this point though i don't think any of my villagers are all that original because i make them say silly things for their catchphrases? I don't really have an issue with them copying each other unless it's something species specific like a sheep saying "rr-owch?"
