Villager in Boxes

If a villager is already in boxes, am I able to TT back in time a few hours, or will that cause them to move?
I know if you TT back past 6am they will be long gone, but I don't know about a couple hours in the past.

I believe a couple of hours will be fine, so long as you dont go back past 6am

Does anyone have proof?
I'm giving a villager to a user, and I'm afraid that if I TT into the past I'll lose them.

You can TT to any time during the day as long as it's not before 6am like creeper said.

I always TT back to 8am because then I can still talk to people in my town. But yes, 6am is the start of a new day, so TTing back before 6am is not advised.
