villager house reset question

I have 8 villagers and inevitably a 9th is going to try to move in, so I've been doing the house/villager reset trick (where you create a new character and scout where the new house is going to be), but I've noticed that
I've had Iggly 4 times
I've had Diva twice
I've had Canberry twice
I've had Rocket 3 times
and a small handful of other villagers once. (VERY small handful, like maybe 2 or 3. I forget their names though)

So I've been wondering, is there a small pool of possible villagers that your game selects from, because I am astounded that my game would choose Iggly FOUR TIMES when it could choose from all the other villagers.

There is. It tries to keep one of each personality type in your town and maybe two of one type, so if you already have 2 of one type then it is going to want to force you to put in the last personality that you don't have! (is that Uchi for you?) otherwise look up the type you are missing and just keep resetting until you see one that you like.

I don't have any Jocks or Uchis in my town, maybe that's why :c My town is literally all peppy/lazy. LOL bummer.
