Sometimes either by random chance or inspiration, I will end up with my own personal backstory or something about villagers in my town. And I thought it'd be funny if anybody else does this too!

Okay so, my boyfriend has Ozzie in his town (koala) and he is constantly crafting cardboard furniture, my boyfriend reads out his dialogue in an awful Australian accent which is just hilarious to hear when he's talking about "cardboard chairs". We saw him hanging around my boyfriend's garbage can as well so now I'm convinced that Ozzie just has this fascination with cardboard.

Klaus is the ruler of my island, I've decided. Firstly because he looks like a Roman emperor, but also because when my boyfriend was visiting Klaus introduced himself as the "count" of my island! He had a marble looking house and everything so he's now my liege.

I mentioned this in another thread too but we're convinced that Hans is the retired yeti from ski free.

So do you have any funny theories about your villagers? Or personal lives that you've attached to them? :D

i definitely think audie and gayle are dating, they're always working out together or in each other's houses, and they talk about each other A LOT.

hamphrey is the town creep LOL he just lurks around and (weirdly enough) i always find him sitting behind other villagers' houses or just standing still in the foresty area at the back!

One time Flo was singing in Ava's direction across the river, and then later I saw Ava doing the same. They were neighbors as well, and I started headcanoning them as girlfriends. I was honestly sad when I had to move Flo away from her to make more space in my residential area.

Hehe, those are some neat li’l backstories. xP

Ever since New Leaf, I’ve always thought of Flurry as the adorable, seemingly innocent character with creepy plans/interests that she keeps hidden from everyone else. The reasons behind this are:

1. Not sure about in NH, but in NL she kept a pet hamster in her house despite she herself being a hamster. Same species enslavement.

2. Her favorite song is Hypno KK, which is a generally creepy sounding tune that she may use to hypnotize her subjects.

3. Her tune that plays when you talk to her is in a minor key, which is typically associated with more negative/sad/creepy vibes.

I love doing things like this! It makes the villagers feel more 3 dimensional!

In New Leaf, I like to imagine Fang and Hazel have a brother-sister relationship because one time I saw Fang stalking around her house at night with Hazel beside her and when I went up to talk to him, Fang told me that he was patrolling Hazel's yard because the other day, someone planted a bunch of pitfall seeds around her house.

But in New Horizons, before Lily moved away, all she did was read books, whether she was at home, under a tree, or on a bridge. She talks about her books too! One time I saw she was angry and when I went to talk to her, she told me she was getting into this new book (Which she was! She was reading earlier that day) and it turns out Hazel accidentally blurted out a spoiler for the book. So I like to imagine Lily was a book worm!
Bangle does a lot of yoga poses in front of her house, so I like to think she's a super healthy and strong tiger!
Merengue actually likes to bake! When Lolly moved in, she told me she was going to send her a welcome cake after she was done putting frosting on it. And because Bangle, Lolly, and Merengue all have kitchens in their house, I like to think they gather together to exchange recipes and cook/bake together!

Poncho sees it as a personal challenge to improve the island for everyone. Without his help, the Museum, Nook's Cranny and everyone's houses never could have been built as his strength and endurance are unrivaled by anyone else on the island. Poncho is respected by everyone else on the island, and he always reminds us that he is the one who made this all possible. In his spare time he enjoys fishing and can often be seen at the top of trees (a reference to how black bears are good tree climbers).

Alfonso has a fascination for dinosaurs, owning a collection of perfectly preserved fossils. He also loves pizza. I have no memory of where either of these character traits came from as they originated from when Alfonso lived in my City Folk town which was about a decade ago.

I haven't really thought about my other villagers' stories yet. They'll all get fairly developed characters the longer they live on my island.

Oh! And as far as my island of Faerywood goes, Cookie and Dom are totes dating. 💖

In Somnus, Jacques is everyone's friend and ladies talk about him a lot. He's cool. He's hip but probably is insecure (just for that singing during the title screen and stopping midway looking so conflicted and troubled LMAO.) Raymond is the known "handsome guy" but everyone knows he's gay and with Marshal so no one really like, questions how he dresses or acts (actually, everyone in the island comes to him for fashion advice and is actually very helpful about it, also helps me with finances and be more careful with investing in the stalk market.)

Mitzi is the "princess" of the villagers because I spoil her to the point of absurdity. She remains down to earth and close friends with everyone (esp with Merengue!). (We are actually close friends [in New Leaf] that I personally invited her myself via Amiibo!)

Marshal is a closet weeb who watches anime with Raymond. (This was based on his rant about localized manga being garbo in HHD. Which I wholeheartedly agree.) He does Jojo poses when no one is looking. Loves lip gloss. (Those smug dialogues crack me up real bad.)

Cheri and Cherry are sisters. (I know, Cheri is called Acerola in Japanese but...AAA) They tend to follow each other and Cherry looks after her.

JOCK headcanons: Sparro is a welcoming but equally challenging bird friend of Bluebear. Already planning his retirement ages even though he's like 15. Sprocket and Ribbot hate sweaters because they're robots and long-sleeved stuff in warmness makes people sweat, which is a liquid, and the bots are unaware they can't and think themselves wearing a sweater would be their downfall.
PEPPY headcanons: Bluebear is an innocent and happy character who works on her cartooning skills (as being a cartooner is her goal) by making stories about ghosts and other halloween stuff... on every month but october. Also a vannamelon fan (its why she doesnt do spooky stuff on october because mini lemon.) Maddie is the memer of the bunch, and if anyone says anything that sounds like it could be a reference, maddie will throw 10 million prezzies at them.
Kabuki is a weeb (I imagine he'd be into Demon Slayer and Attack On Titan) who also loves drama (as in plays).
Phoebe is kabuki's best friend who tried to move in with kabuki simultaneously into Blossoms (2nd defunct town) but the max villagers at that time (5; the town changed when isabelle took note of the new mayor and had HIGH assumptions.) were taken. As soon as someone moved out (which ended up being kabuki, but Phoebe didn't know), Phoebe moved in. They are both unaware that Lily had moved, and are spending their days in the void looking for a island that fit her standards and also had a rep named "lily"
Elise definitely has something dark about her... her catchphrase is "Do as I say, not as I do." Which explains almost everything.
Monty stalks Reese and Cyrus for fun during wedding season.
Canberra thinks she's hated and as a result does not want to leave Leybaki. She was once in an island where she was hated, and does not want that again.

I do light headcanon sometimes just for fun. Cleo and Raymond are counterparts in my town. Cleo's house has an office employee theme while Raymond has what appears to be the office of a boss who probably oversees the office that Cleo appears to work at. Their personalities are similar, snooty and smug. I like to totally imagine them dating lol. There's a little office romance happening right in front of me! I don't have any pics of them hanging out yet though. Neither one of them really spends time with anyone in town but I'm hoping one day they'll get close... :(

Not anything romantic, that's strange to me - you do what you want on your island but it isn't for me.

However I do have islanders that I think of as best friends:

Biskit and Pippy
Kiki and Sylvana
Ribbot and Bianca

Octavian is like the island grandpa. He's so out of touch but he's a cute old guy so everyone adores him.

muffy, fang, and whitney have established themselves as the "guardians" of the island - basically designated older siblings that try to get everyone else under control. they all like to gossip/judge the other villagers together since they think everyone else is too childish for them, but they're always the first ones giving advice or helping them out. muffy and fang are best friends who will rather die than admit that they're best friends, and fang and whitney lowkey have a budding romance. muffy and whitney can tolerate each other on the best days, so fang is really the glue that holds the trio together.

marshal, who used to be the infamous flirt in town, is heads over heels over molly, the new girl next door - and everyone knows about his crush except for those two. it's a classic shojo anime with them, and everyone else is just sick of it.

marshal's also bffls with audie, and they both plan on being pop stars together since they're the only ones who can handle each other's unnecessary theatrics. they're trying to get a band in the works with audie as the lead singer and marshal as the mysterious bass player. it's currently just them, but they know that they'll rise to fame once they convince genji to play drums with them and once marshal actually learns how to play the bass.

maple is the classic sweet girl in town; everyone loves being around her. she's always getting gardening tips with muffy, who makes time to actually help tend the garden with her. she (patiently) listens to marshal and audie's ramblings and dreams of stardom. she works out with raymond and genji. maple, molly, and stitches are close together since they both like visiting the library/art cafe together. maple and molly like to read the books while stitches gets cookie crumbs all over his drawings. it's a dynamic that just works.

genji doesn't really have a "best friend", but he's the one guy that everyone knows that they can rely on for a favor. he's always willing to help the others, especially if it involves working out, and he's an overall friendly guy. sometimes he and marshal butt heads, but he's always the first one to apologize. he's constantly checking in on the others, even the the so-called guardians.

raymond likes stirring conflict, intentionally or unintentionally. he's making moves on whitney (much to fang's distress) and he's constantly trying to make himself look cooler and smarter than he actually is, which can cause fights with muffy (who is always ready to knock him down a peg or two). some may say that he likes being a jerk, but the reality is that he watched too many anime shows when he was younger and now is always acting out like a character his younger self was in love with. he thinks he's a cool guy, but he really is a dork. he and marshal are surprisingly really good cooks so they like to get together and make meals like they're on some cooking show. marshal, who looks up to raymond, is constantly asking for advice on how to make his "very good friend molly" swoon for him, and raymond gives him terrible advice that he's definitely stolen from some anime. and marshal, being an oblivious idiot, follows said advice, which almost never works for him.
