I think these occasional villager discussion threads that pop up here and there, and I have a good one to talk about. I may make more of these later on. :)

I want to tell you my story with Velma, and my interesting moments with her.

2020-01-14 09.35.40.jpg

To me, Velma is one of the most underrated and interesting villagers in Animal Crossing. She may not seem likable at first, but if you give her a chance, you will be proven otherwise.

I will admit. When I first discovered her in May 2015, I was not a fan. I still regret disliking her to this day.

But at the end of July 2015, I found her growing on me more and more. I honestly didn't know why, and still don't.

. . .

Like most snooty villagers when befriended, she can be very motherly. A couple of weeks ago, she gave me medicine, because I had a beesting. :,)

She calls me "her dear" in letters, and evens signs them with love.

She gave me her picture recently.

Yesterday, she told me I always stick by her.

Heck, she once called me adorable in a letter. O_____o

However, she also has a devious side to her.

I will NEVER forgot the time I had her in a previous town, it was the November 2015 fishing tourney, and she beat me within the LAST 30 MINUTES!!! .--.

What had happened was, I caught a 9.80-inch crucian carp at about 5:30PM. This brought me in 1st place. I then went on my other NewLeaf copy to do some fooling around until 6:00PM.

When I got back on my main copy to do the ceramony, I was expecting to win. But nooooooooope. Velma managed to beat me with a 10.15-inch crucian carp. I was pissed. XD

Luckily, I was able to extract my revenage at yesterday's fishing tourney by coming out on top this time. It only took over four years, but I did it. >:D

She even stayed in her house until the ceramony, which she attended. XD

. . .

Then there is my current town, where she is showing her more devious side.

She has already committed two barge-ins.

The first one was on January 8th. I was fixing up one of my newest rooms with pink regal furniture. I exited my pockets and all of a sudden...... **KNOCK** **KNOCK** "sHaWnA? yOu tHeRe?"

The second time was on January 15. I was inside my house. I think I was getting stuff, or putting stuff away, I'm not sure. I leave my bedroom (in real life) to get a drink or something, I come back, and I could see a text box from my bedroom door. I walk closer to my 3DS, to see who it was. To no surprise it was VELMA again :p

But you know what? Her sneaky side is apart of the fun as well as her mother figure side. <333

. . .

What do you guys think of Velma? Do you hate her? Or are you one of the rare ones, like me and like her? Feel free to also share personal experiences with her, if you have any. :)

I like Velma. Never had her in my town and she's by no means my favorite, but she's a good villager. Nice to see she's someone's favorite. I like seeing when obscure villagers are given some love.

I've never had her so I don't have an opinion but reading about your experiences with her was fun!

That is certainly devious of her. I have definitely been bopped within the last hour of the tourney before on a few occasions; strangely afterwards the town was lacking in someone to do the "fishing masters" favors.

As for Velma, I have not had her ever... I typically will not gravitate towards unnatural-colored villagers. This does not make her any less of a great villager of course. Her house is quite lovely looking. I feel like it is not all that uncommon to have stories tied to villagers where they do something silly or devious, and then we end up liking them for it eventually!

I've only had her once and didn't keep her but I love her similarities to Scooby Doo Velma! Maybe I should have given her a chance.

That's super interesting. It's awesome to have fun experiences with villagers- even if they tick you off sometimes, lol.

I had Velma in a previous town. She was there at the beginning and stayed for a long time. She was my mortal enemy, but I grew attached to her presence in my town.

When she did move out suddenly, I was only happy for a little while; then I saw the giant empty plot where her house had been. That's when I realized I wasn't.

The instant I saw this on the recent threads I smiled very wide. Let's just say that Velma is my all time favorite villager! The instant I saw her, I didn't think much of her but something about her just clicked with me? I always found her cute and sweet, and this was before I knew villagers had personalities so I was surprised to see her as a snooty villager!

Over the years my friendship with her in ACNL grew so immensely throughout my time playing that I was sad to find out that she was moving away without a warning. It was a sad night but the ACNL update saved the day! I haven't seen Velma or played ACNL in a long time but I hope I can see Velma once more in New Horizons.

I have never had Velma before so I don't have a strong opinion of her, but I like that she's named after Velma from Scooby Doo and her design is cute enough. I'm sure if she ever moved in, I'd enjoy getting to know her.

She's one of the villagers I grew attached to in my first town (back in 2013). I still have her and I do not plan on moving her out.

I only met Velma in Happy Home Designer. I like Velma, but the fact that she has a beard kinda bugging me out. And recently i just realized she shared similar appearance with another Velma from Scooby-Doo

My first thought when seeing this thread was that we share a birthday. Although, Velma was not a character that was interesting to me. I definitely don’t hate her though.

i don’t think that i’ve ever had velma before, but i like her! she’s actually pretty cute and i wouldn’t be opposed to having and getting to know her one day. :’)
