Villager cycling question

Okay, I know it's a sixteen villager cycle to get a villager to move back in.

I really want to move Lolly back in. Now...Maple recently moved out and Lolly is showing up on Main Street for the very first time.

I've read that a villager will pop up on Main Street after four villagers have moved out after them.

So, is this true and if so, would I be safe in believing that I'm about twelve villagers from being able to move Lolly back in?

Yes this is true. I would keep track of who comes & goes in your town as best you can.

Yep, in my experience that's a very accurate way of telling. Write down who leaves and who moves in though as sometimes villagers disappear from main street for a few days at a time when they are actually still in the void.
