Villager conversations are not as interesting anymore?

Maybe its just me but I noticed in ACNH, villagers dont really talk as much anymore, its the same short dialogue everyday. They never ask me for favours, maybe like once and never ask me to bring them fish/bugs, to another villagers house, etc.
Maybe its "unlocked" when your better friends with villagers but I have unlocked that achievement, or so my nookmiles tells me, but I still get the same boring dialogue, is it just me or has other people noticed this too?

Once I had their picture or was close to getting my villager's pictures is when their dialogue became more interesting and varied. I also had more favors from them each day.

You gotta keep talking to them in a day to get more options of delivering gifts, finding buried presents and personal questions.

They will be more likely to just small talk about recent things if you don't.

Will say though, I do miss house visits and hide and go seek (terraforming would kind of make this hard for some islands however)

I miss hide and seek too! The treasure hunt is cute at least.

Like other people here are saying, my villager dialogue has gotten more interesting as I’ve built up friendship with them. Also, if you talk with them more than once, you usually get more interesting dialogue. You also get many more requests, trade offers, and pings for things like the treasure hunt or gift delivery as you become better friends.

finally, the villagers villager conversations are some of the most interesting interactions. They are a lot of fun and there is a lot of apparent variety, since you have different potential combinations. The peppy-peppy convos are amazing!

even the normals, who I know people find boring have some very fun convos with other villagers

I hope it really does get better as you build up friendships because the things my villagers say right now are so generic. :( A lot of lines are really short too so conversations feel like they end abruptly.

Is there a way to listen in on villager conversations in NH, do you know? Or is it random?

It really does take a long time for your villagers to open up enough to start giving you new dialogue. Too long for my liking, I love some of my villagers but not enough to seek them out, talk to them five times, and get them gifts every single day

I still occasionally get new dialogue from my villagers because my friendship levels with them are so high now. It's a pleasant surprise for me because I was expecting the amount of dialogue to be the same as New Leaf at first. I'm happy how it turned out in this game because you've pretty much earned it for being kind to your villagers.

I don’t really get much new dialogue in the game, unless if I talk to them a lot.

My villagers are always wanting to talk but I am usually running around barefoot like a crazy person either catching bugs, fishing , collecting items for trades, etc (the list goes on) or laying down "The Path" which is taking me forever and they always come up to talk to me then, then sit on the floor where I am laying the path :cautious:

I agree. I'm getting tired of Lolly telling me that she's making the most of her day. I thought she would say
more when I got her photo, but she said the same one-liners every time I saw her. Just like my jocks always talking about cold protein shakes, and my peppy villagers always say that I'm fab. Don't even get me started on the circumstantial dialog and the dialog you get repeatedly about other people who live on your island.
I believe Nintendo put way more work in making crafting, terraforming, etc. that they lost sight of what makes Animal Crossing such a great game, the villagers.

I think it depends on the personality. All 3 of my normal villagers say exactly the same thing every single day.

you just wait until you see two villagers making hand gestures to each other, and choose which one you want to talk to (this actually changes the topic of conversation), and press a!

Really? I didn't know that before! I know if they have hand gestures thing they are talking to each other, but this one "and choose which one you want to talk to (this actually changes the topic of conversation), " I didn't know that before

Sorry, but the dialogue is awesome in this game. Here's some recent screencaps I took to serve as Exhibits A-D entered into evidence

I've experienced the opposite of what most people are saying, in that once I've befriended a villager 100%, their dialogue somehow gets less interesting... For example, I'm BFFs with Graham, so literally all he says to me are "Isn't it fate that we're such good friends?" "I'm glad I moved to Kame since you're here!" and "A random meetup with my bestie -- nothing better!"

This applies to every smug I've befriended, too. No matter what, we can't escape the repetitive dialogue. I hope Nintendo patches this.

I think it's less that the dialogue is bad and more that the programming could use some polish.
For example, when you first talk to them, they always greet you with a generic one-liner. Then they comment on what you've been doing on the island or the people that visited your island. THEN they talk about upcoming events like the Bug-off. Then finally, they start cycling through smalltalk topics. Every villager goes through this everyday, regardless of personality, which makes it very repetitive.
The problem is not only that there is no measure in place to prevent repetition, but also that the devs deliberately programmed the villagers in such a way that they always go through the same topics when you first talk to them.

It's been like this after like........a week of playing. Villagers barely have personality anymore, it's in need of a major update

I just skim through it, I wouldn't notice if something was interesting or new anyway.
