Villager clothing glitch?

Sorry if this has been posted but I didn’t find anything. Today I went to phoebes house and gifted her a closet. Later I went and checked inside to see if she stored the shirt I gave her and it was all fancy stuff... and a coat I gave Whitney. So I went to Whitney’s and li and behold it was the clothes and crown I gave phoebe?

Has this happened to anyone else? ;n;
