I don't know if i'm the only one who does this, but do you have an underlying storyline for your village? I do, and i've mentioned tidbits of it on the forums before (in particular, Bob's attempted coup.), but now, on this thread i'll document the whole story (so far at least):

The town of Duwang had no mayor, and they were looking for a mayor who could bring the town back to its former glory, which had since virtually disappeared since the war ended. They wanted a mayor who was for the people of Duwang, someone with charisma, someone whos words had depth to them.... And they ended up with me.

For the time before i was inaugurated, the town had an interim mayor, she would be my secretary when i arrived. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the villagers, surprised that the population was so minimal. Among the welcoming faces there was a displeased look, coming from a villager named Elvis, a veteran of the war. Apparently he had inquired about taking the mayor position for years, but to no avail. I eventually made friends with Elvis and three other villagers, Bob, Mott and Mitzi. The other 2 original villagers were nothing special, and they were promptly evicted. I would meet my eventual right-hand man the next week, when he came to the village plaza for his weekly art sale, "Crazy" Redd was a man with experience in many fields: selling, negotiating, coercion and a con-man by trade; he was also very cunning. I knew after my first purchase from him that if i had him at my side, the town of Duwang would reach new levels of success, and he had all the skills I looked for in a vice-mayor.

Two months passed, the weather started its transition to warmth, and I invited Redd to the Town Hall for a one-on-one talk. I purposed my interest in having him in a government position, and almost without hesitation, he eagerly accepted. He was sworn in the next day.

Since then, Duwang has been trending upwards, thanks in large part to Redd's widespread art sales and his underworld connections worldwide, and my own bug catching prowess. The villages economy was phenomenal, and the story is not over yet, its only just begun.

Woo... that was a shortend version, hope I didn't bore any of you to sleep lol. Feel free to share you own town stories, i'm sure they're alot better than mine :P

OMG OMG, I have tons of side story lines and like the main plot involving my mayor!

I'm just gonna one of the side stories.. For one my mayor and her sister (Summer the mayor and her sister Autumn ) are at odds right now because they're warring over Bruce, whom after much work on BOTH girls parts has warmed up to each equally but in different ways. Since they both adore a bad boy with a heart Bruce was love at first sight for both...we will have to see who he chooses...it seems he is most attracted to Autumn but he covets the conversations and visits between him and Summer more because of her intelligence and wit...
Bruce is recovering from a rough divorce and isn't really looking to get into anything AS OF NOW, but he can tell that when the time comes...one or the other would be ideal as a partner, a friend, a confidant...as a wife? He just isn't ready now to settle down, and because of that he is enjoying all the attention he is getting (and from sisters none the less!)

Origin of Happy:

A young man, probably around his early 20's, made his way down the aisle and took his seat. Trying to get comfortable, he placed his luggage down beside him and sighed. Not far from him was a blue cat, Rover to be exact.

"Another one eh? Either must be a new player, or someone who just reseted their whole game. Poor residents.." Rover thought to himself. "Alright, this one is probably just like the others, time to send them to a new town, a new game."
Rover made eye-contact with the man, grabbing his attention. Putting on a fake smile, he said, "Oh! Excuse me! I have a quick question for you. It's now-"

"Sure."

"..Excuse me?" Rover was startled. This never happened before, this was never in the game script! However, this man must've reseted a bunch of times, and was tired of the beginning. "Haha.. well then.. I'm just gonna plop down in the seat across from you. If you don't mind, of course!" Rover made his way and sat across from the mysterious man. "By the way, you-"

"Riley."

"Uhm, sure.. Riley." The cat started to sweat a bit, caught off guard by his sudden response. Okay, he had to ask him. "Look man, did you already play this game before?" Rover asked.

"Yeah, sorry for the abrupt answers. It's been a busy day today," the young man cracked a smile, breaking off his attitude.

"Ah! No, no-- it's fine! I completely understand!" Rover sighed, relieved that the game file wasn't going to corrupt or anything. As the usual conversation went on, Rover started to sense something.. unusual. The man right in front of him was acting fine, but this aura around him seemed pretty.. dark. "You're.. you're not planning anything weird, are you?"

"Hmm? What makes you say that?"

"Just answer my question."

"Once I get off this train, I don't think so."

"Are you planning to reset.. again?"

"Never."

A voice was spoken through the loud speakers. "Now arriving in Happy! Happy Station!" Both heads looked up at the same time, being alerted by the sudden announcement.

"Oh, hey! Looks like we're about to arrive in Happy. Okay, good luck, Riley! Bye-bye!"

"Bye!" The soon-to-be-mayor took his luggage and started making his way out of the train.

Rover stared at him for some quite time, until he was out of sight. "And good luck to you too.. the now and future residents of Happy.." he sighed,

"..be careful.."

"Isabelle."
