Hello!
I have been watching some island tours on Youtube. I just think that my island is feeling very small in comparison to these other islands. I feel like mine has no space at all, while on the other hand, these people have managed to make lots of different sections and whatnot in their places.

I do believe this is because my "residential area" wasn't thought out very efficiently, but does anyone else feel this way?
I have been thinking a lot about just redoing the whole island, but that thought about all the terraforming and houses to place again doesn't really motivate me lol

I felt the same way before terraforming, but my island got a bit larger after terraforming, relocating and removing some trees.

It’s partially because we are it everyday and know every little spot. It’s like when you are going into high school and you get your schedule and walk through the halls to see where classes are. The school seems so big but by the end of the year you know your way around.

That's good!
The thing is, I terraformed a lot! lol
I might re-do the whole thing *sigh*

There was a thread similar to this like a day or so ago and i said basically this: you know your island inside and out, but you dont know other peoples islands. Because you dont know them, they seem much bigger and fancier since you're not used to it. It's a psychological thing
unless youre using your space terribly, like having huge rivers, then maybe it feels small because of that

Yes, I guess that is true!
Thanks for the comment!

I feel the same way you do. I chose a layout I liked based on the location of the peninsula which in hindsight wasn't a good idea because I'm starting to not like how close the HQ is to the airport but there's nothing I can do about that now.

I don't feel that way but I also have a great lack of cliffs. but I plan on re terraforming my island again soon and try to get layers in there while still having room to have sections of stuff.
I think my problem is that I feel like my island can feel choppy rather than small with the rivers and the cliffs.

I had thought about that already, but now reading these two comments again it just makes more sense!

YES but it’s in large part due to me wanting a giant mountain area and a more “natural” feel to most of my island. In general I feel like most of the more grid-like and symmetrical islands, or ones that don’t use the different levels much, feel MUCH larger in general. But smaller feeling isn’t a bad thing imo, it’s cozy~

I feel you!!
I totally understand how it could be cozier, but I had plans about adding this and that and now I'm like oop. Guess I don't have much space lol

I regretted my layout 1 second after, because I clicked on the wrong image and couldn't connect brain- eye- image lol. I didn't restart because I got Muffy which I grew very fond of!
(I was also very tired when I began playing on launch day)

Chop down a bunch of trees. You'd be surprised with how much space they take up!
Will do! Thanks!

No. In fact, my island feels like it's getting bigger, because I'm making a space efficient residential and shopping district. I'm going to have a lot more room that won't be wasted on spread out things.

i think sometimes that my island is too small , and then suddenly i think is too big lmao
The struggle! Will we ever be satisfied with our islands? lol

I removed one of my rivers, and now I’m like: my island is so huge 🌟o🌟
I removed one river as soon as I got terraforming and that does help!

I know for me my island feels smaller than others because my rivers both exit on the south beach. I feel like islands with a river on the side and a river on the bottom feel much larger.

I think it's all about placement and layout. My island still have a lot of empty space, mostly because I took possible future updates in consideration. Brewster, HHA, Police station, Re-tail, Club LOL, Shampoodle, Dream Suite, etc...

My villager houses, stores, museum, and a park are not cramped together but are aligned properly to create a small district on the right half of my island. The left half is terraformed for a nature trail and campsite, zen garden, fishing area, and a flower meadow. But still have lots of space. The central area of my island only have my house and Resident Services. Still lots of space. And I have both river exits to the south.
