Hello villagers! My GFs version is currently experiencing major problems. Certain nature objects (trees, rocks, bushes, flowers) doesn't display their proper textures. Instead they show what looks like a TV with no signal and sometimes even transparency. Some rocks are all black with dots on em.

Is Tom Nook pranking us or whats going on here?!

I'd include a pic but since I'm a new member I can't. Also hello everyone! ^^

Can you upload the pictures somewhere (tinypic, photobucket) and then post a link even if you can't post pictures? That could help.

Does your girlfriend have a digital or physical copy?

It sounds like the issue might be the 3DS.

She's got a physical copy of the game. I'm not sure what it could be.
I'm working on getting a pic up.

A picture would definitely help. I've seen some pictures showing towns with weird textures as well. I think I even saw one a while back where the town's grass was completely black.

Have you tried playing the game in different 3DSes to see if the problem is in the cartridge or the system? Or if you have a separate copy, have you tried playing your copy in her 3DS?

Maybe the cartridge is just a little messed up. Is it so bad that she can't cut down trees, plant things, and etc?

The only issue so far is the visuals.

We (or rather I) have not dared to switch anything around. I'm a careful fella and I don't want any of our games or machines to end up in the bin.

Could it be potentially dangerous to mix it around like you suggest?

my goodness. a stupid question, but have you tried cleaning the cartridge, taking it out, etc? it might be dusty, ive seen a few cases of this where it was simply dust.

No, it's not dangerous. What sort of dangers are you talking about? It's most likely a physical issue with the cartridge or the system, or it could be something simple like dust, so that wouldn't affect multiple systems/cartridges. To start with, you could just try resetting and popping the cartridge out and cleaning it, and then putting it back in. Besides that, the only thing you could try doing is to localize the problem by switching around cartridges/systems to see where the problem is. Does she have the same probably when visiting other towns/dream towns as well?

The picture reminds me a little of this one here, and the issue here was with the system.

Poor Digby! D:

But yeah, you should probably try switching the game around to see if it's the system or not.

Dude that's WAY COOL! I'm always amazed at new glitches!
Does she have a dream code? It'd be sweet to visit and see if the textures show up weird in a dream version as well.

Welcome to TBT by the way.

As a matter of fact - I did find a teeeeensy-weeeensy little tiny strain of hair on one of the gold plated connector things. Have we found our culprit? We'll soon find out!

Thing is I'm not even sure what sorts of dangers this could mean. I'm probably just paranoid but like I said - I'm a cautious man.

Uhm... You know what? I'll ask her and let you know!

Ooook so here's the thing - I put the cartridge in my system and same result - Twilight Zone-city!

So... Eeh.. What now? 0_O The cartridge is pretty much done for I suppose? I've cleaned it as much as I can, switched systems.

Also to those that find this fascinating - The gal found you guys weird and will soon decide if she wants to share her FC :) So stay tuned for some of that... Maybe!

The dream address of the town would be enough for us to go see the town without bothering her, if she has unlocked the dream suite in her game.
Sucks that you guys can't fix it though, but it's not a very serious glitch. If I had a glitched town like that I'd use the opportunity to make a really cool futuristic sci-fi town.

Try taking out the cardtirage, then giving it a quick blow (try not to spit on it), then do the same with the SD card.

Well she has not activated the dream thing. So it's "live" or not at all I suppose :/ I'll get the FC and give it out in a bit. Btw we're Swedish so she might not be available during your regular hours. Just saying.

I've huffed and I've puffed and it didn't get us anywhere...

I would love to see some screenshots of it... I think if other people would visit, that the town would look normal to them due to the way town data is sent: it doesn't include texture mapping because that's already in your own game. All the game's objects are already in your game, so the data you get of other towns just includes the data for which object is in each spot on the grid.

It definitely sounds like a problem with the cartridge. You could probably return it & get a new one if you haven't bought it too long ago?
