I need some advice as to what to do with this situation.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I saw a thread of a user buying tbt for bells. I sent 300 tbt for 4.5m bells. I went to her town and picked the bags up, and deposited them in my bank at her town. As I went to the train, it was loading, and an error occurred with ressetti. I was returned to my town, and quickly went to check my deposit. I didn't have any of the bells. I started with 2m, so I should have 6m, but instead I still had 2m. I immediately PM'd her, and she replied it could be a time delay. I sent her a photo with her PM in the background as proof. She said it saved on her end and she has no bells, while I also do not have the bells. I am really upset.. I'm not sure what to do. I would like my 300tbt back, but it has been spent already. Or atleast the bells back, but I'm not sure what a fair solution is since it was a problem with the game. I would really like some advice please! Thank you.

There shouldn't be a delay unless you used Re-Tail.
Can you describe, in more detail, how you left the town? I think I have a hunch, but I need more information before I can continue.

If you used the drop method there should be no delay. If it didn't save the other user still has the bells.
I hate to jump to conclusions but it sounds like a scam to me. The other user could have flicked the wifi switch while you were leaving, simulating a connection issue.
If there really had been a connection issue they would not argue about not having the bells.

That's what I thought, since I've never had a delay with bells before when picking them up.
I walked inside the train station, talked to the monkey, and it showed the loading train, and then resetti.
I'm not sure how to word more detail, but this is best as I can describe.
It is possible it could be an error because this has happened to me before recently. I went to pick up an item, it crashed on the way back to my train, and neither of us had the item. I might be over reacting, but I feel like a solution needs to be settled, a partial refund at the very least would be appreciated.. I'm not sure what to do though

They should have the bells. I was wondering if it could've been one of the glitches discovered when people tried to dupe, but it seems that's not the case.

You can try to pm a mod about your tbt bells.
I'm really sorry this happened and I hope it gets resolved.

Thank you ;^; I did PM an admin, but he logged off as soon as I pm'd him. I hope he could help resolve the situation. The user has many good feedback too. I also provided the photo and thread link to the admin, hoping this helps.

Hey! I am the other user ... There was no scam ... Check my excellent reputation!
I am out 4.5 mill in bells which I watched as she repeatedly ran back and forth to bank to deposit ... On closing there was no error or glitch
Here is my letter to Admin Justin
Hey, Justin ... Would appreciate your input ... I did a trade with a member on Marketplace ... I purchased 300 TBTs for 4.5 mill.
She transferred the TBTs successfully and then came to my town for the acnl bells.
45 bags all laid out ... She picked them all up and made repeated trips to the bank to deposit them ... Trade was finished and she left my town ... There was no error or glitch on my end, but she says she got an error message on her end and that her bank account does not reflect her deposited amount.
Is this just a time lapse and will her deposit be reflected on the next day?
She has sent dozens of messages to me wanting her money (which I understand would be very upsetting!) but what is my obligation here? I have paid 4.5 mill in good faith and watched as she deposited it. ... Am I responsible to compensate if it was a Nintendo error?
Sure would appreciate your input!
Thanks so much

On her side, she didn't seem to have an error, but I did.
Maybe you could provide a photo to show there's no bells? I trust you though.
This is the photo I sent immediately after it occurred.

There are no bells left ...they were spread out in front of my station and she picked them up ... All 45 bags and ran back and forth depositing them ... I even went to her town to check the wifi connection and left a gift as a test ... No error and no glitch ... And in literally hundreds of trades I have never had one!

If this is what happened, then the game should not have been saved for either of you, meaning she should still have the bells. While I can't deny the small possibility that something really went wrong and the bells are lost, it seems highly likely that she scammed you. Maybe she took advantage of the timing of the error, or maybe she flicked the wifi switch right before you got on the train.

Personally, I would confront her with this and ask her to send you back the TBT bells one more time.

I'm wondering though; did you check her wifi rating before trading with her? I'd deem the chance of this being a scam even higher if she had no or very few positive ratings.

Edit: Oh, I see this just got more complicated than I thought.

Could it be another side of what can occur while duping? We all know how duping works, (I won't get into it because it's banned here.) but there have been reports of duping ending with the items disappearing. Of course, this is a slightly different situation, but usually when duping the visitor errors and the host has no problems.

It shouldn't, as far as I know the duplication glitch only may work when your on the saving screen.... hmm....

I have to say that I am really upset about being accused of scamming ... Maybe I am the one being scammed?
I was very sympathetic to start with as anyone can see by the lettered that went back and forth, but I am fast losing my good will here!

She replied to this thread, and she has wonderful feedback and I take her word for it. She did come to my town afterwards to test any connection issues, and no crashes, but crashes happen unexpectedly. I don't know why the save went wrong, if it did. She has already spent the tbt so there's no chance of getting them back ;w;. Even so, it wouldn't be fair because she lost the money if it really isn't in her inventory. So I'm so lost as to what to do. I would also like to add I trust her word, and I do have a photo for proof, so I hope nobody can be accused as a scammer. It just hope we can find a solution.

Ah ok that explained it! It was the duplication glitch!
It didn't save on your end but it saved on Pennifer's. This is one of the bad endings of the duplication glitch.

Note I love game glitches, specially Animal Crossing. This is how I know. But I am not expert on this glitch, but I know that's one of the outcome that can even happen unexpectedly. It's happened to two members before on tbt while doing a trade.

What probably happened was it saved on the host's end, but didn't save on your end. This is possible because it's why duping works. The visitor drops the items, the host ends the session, the visitor flips the wifi switch at the right moment to create an error for them but not the host. So the host's game saves with the items and the visitor's game is reverted to its last save where they still have the items as well. If you do it the opposite way (host starts with the items), the items will disappear, which sounds like is what happened in your case. Sorry if this is a really bad explanation lmao.

I didn't do any wifi-switching though. I just went in and out. I wouldn't want to do that either because it doesn't benefit me in anyway, as in I'm not receiving my payment.
