Unity 5 was released not too long ago. It is a new and improved edition of the popular Unity game engine, and it's free. Games developed with it are publishable to a wide variety of different mainstream platforms, one being the Wii U. This not only confirms Nintendo's interests in keeping the Wii U alive at least a little while longer, but also that we'll be seeing a lot of fun, new games to play and we'll have the opportunity to develop our own.
Nintendo and Unity Technologies partnered in 2012 and in 2014 it was announced that 50 games using the engine were in development for the Wii U and support for the 3DS is still being discussed. Now, I don't know about any of you, but as an aspiring game developer, I am very excited about all this. I know I've said a lot of negative things about Nintendo lately, but I think this is a great move. It opens so many doors for people and I think, at the end of the day, that's what's really important. So, how do you feel about it?
