Ok, I have multi carts so I never really thought about the 16 cycle much...recently I have been moving my villager around trying to get my deer, wolves, and sheep together...This left me with the problem of oh no..I started town so and so because I lost this villager...where can I put all the non types that they have never been and making a holding town in case can't fit someone and for last dreams...The 16 comes in to play in that I gave up stupidly voided or lost Maple a long long time ago in one of my picking up not of that type villager towns..I have recently moved in and out a lot of villagers from that town the deer to put elsewhere and before that others so Maple should be coming up soon. I have her back from someone but it's in my going to be all wolf town and the one she was originally in is where she must go I've mapped it out a million times there is no where else yet and I won't lose her again. So...

I was told that technically it's not 16, adopts don't go in the void...ect and....I'm all kinds of confused. If I am counting right I should be able to get her back in there when I need to but how do you know for sure...when they are not on main st anymore...? I lost track a little bit but I have to have moved 16 after her it was quite a while back...any tips on this...16 thing? My very first void just stopped showing his face...shivers...Harry...I moved out a bunch in a row and see a whole different five up there no maple...but not quite sure how many can be on at and how that helps you know. I know this has been asked but it's my first time needing to know so hope can get advice as many have been through it...but I am not just starting for her just turns out she needs moved back there now but many have come and gone since that stupid mistake especially recently...

Whether or not a villager is voided doesn't matter as the game still records the last 16 regardless if they were adopted or not.

If you keep track of how many moved out you should be fine, but if not when the disappear from Main Street they should be gone from the game's memory and you should be able to move them back in....but this isn't technically 100% proven as the game will continue to put new past villagers onto Main Street.

Also, make sure you check all the shops and the museum before assuming someone is no longer appearing on Main street.

I just replied to your PM but I'll say it here too since it seems like you're not the only one with this question.

The 16 cycle and the void are sort of different things. The game's memory remembers the last 16 villagers who have moved out of your town, regardless of whether they were adopted or voided.

The void is made up of villagers that were not adopted before moving out.

To get a villager back, you do need to cycle through 16 villagers. It just doesn't matter if they're voided or adopted.

If you're talking about something I said in my PM, was that I'd read about the villagers on Main Street not being all of the 16 in your game's memory but being only a certain number out of those 16. Like I said, I'm not sure about the Main Street villagers since I've never paid much attention to that.
